Lycan came from the name of King Lycaon who was cursed by Zeus to become a manwolf in greek mythology...

Both... anatomically werewolves have bodies designed to walk all fours but as a human he must walk bipedal to mingle with other people

Science in our time is still limited and incapable of giving a solid explanation about these things...
As a theory though
