Re: Bitten

(I've never understood why vampires seem to be more popular) I'm really hoping this will open the door to more shows that would be specifically starring werewolves and not just have them as sort of an afterthought. I wouldn't hold my breath. Vampires are easier (and thus cheaper) to produce since t...

Re: Freeborn Crowdfunding Campaign Online

UTS: Well, you and I have traded enough posts that you probably know how I feel about underworld generally. Rise of the lycans was my favorite out of the four to date, but then as a film, like you I wasn't compelled by it. It might be better to say it was the least badly received. And agreed everybo...

Re: Freeborn Crowdfunding Campaign Online

Lovec, it's a feeling it gives you, you need to be sensitive to it, kind of like a joke, you either get it, or you don't. Think of the werewolf as the joke, and the movie it's in as the way the joke is told. It can be told well and make you laugh, or it can be told badly, and not make you laugh. Con...

Re: Freeborn Crowdfunding Campaign Online

Meeper you are mostly right, but you are forgeting something too most people including most movie directors werewolfs are bloodthirsty monster and in most old stories they are described as such, but you are right in some modern movies, books and TV series are giving better image too werewolfs If by ...

Re: Freeborn Crowdfunding Campaign Online

Now try not to get upset when I say this, but some portrayals of werewolves have similarities to aspects which are more frequently enjoyed by the vampires This statement makes me think of Sabrewulf from Killer Instinct (the original arcade version from 1995, not the new 2013 version that annoyingly...

Re: Freeborn Crowdfunding Campaign Online

Yup, agreed, I had no intention to detract from your points, indeed mine is complimentary I think. AB has a few other tricks up his sleeve though in regards to freaking us out. He's already showcased scary-terrifying in stark room light, but obscured by curtains in Tasha's Decision. A running scared...

Re: Freeborn Crowdfunding Campaign Online

There was a quote, I can't remember it exactly, but it went something like this..."If you do something different enough, and interesting enough, you'll make money". The quote was actually longer and more eloquent, but it makes the point well enough between Alien and werewolf genres. With a...

Re: Freeborn Crowdfunding Campaign Online

But like it or not film production crew is right werewolf is a monster. Uh, well... My understanding is that Tasha is going to remain a character in the new(er) Freeborn concept, and I think she pretty well epitomizes the very essence of why a werewolf is a monster. With luck, the "Death-By-Tr...

Re: Freeborn Crowdfunding Campaign Online

My point is that they're going to be constantly looking for the "cheap" fix, and right now CGI is fairly cheap (especially if it is done quickly and cr@pulently). I'm sure that some CGI will be necessary in Freeborn, but I'm still firmly in the camp that effects should be done physically ...

Re: Freeborn Crowdfunding Campaign Online

Well for good animatronics, I suspect Freeborn will just make special partial puppets, such as heads american werewolf/underworld style. For a werewolf death I described though, all you need is a skeleton, some vague sense of having a mass and a musculature acting on the frame, which could be simula...

Re: Freeborn Crowdfunding Campaign Online

I don't think anybody knows yet, except those closest to the project. If I had to put money on it, I'd say both will be used. Probably animatronic puppets for some scenes, at least as a productive way to give old damaged costumes a good send off. When an old costume has reached the end of its useful...

Re: Freeborn Crowdfunding Campaign Online

Yeah what Lovec said. Things may be different now, but not too many years ago CGI *was* one of the major budget trade offs. It might be cheaper now though, it's just the studios are blowing the budgets on more ambitious CGI work. Make a bigger hammer (AKA: New render farm)? Let's see how big of a na...

Re: Freeborn Crowdfunding Campaign Online

Yeah that's the double edged sword of asking for the full transformation monty. It's the most expensive and technically challenging bit to reproduce well and if done well would be a slam dunk. By the same token, it's the most expensive and technically challenging things to do and we've got to find t...

Re: Freeborn Crowdfunding Campaign Online

Any hints of who the "official investors" might be? Uninterested is who the investors have transpired to be. I haven't looked at the crowd funding page for a while, but I think it garnered about $3500. See if I can get this straight. The investors wanted essentially a special case trailer...

Re: Transmission and Turning process

I'm going to assume the question is this: It seems more problematic to acquire mass after transformation from human to werewolf, and then shed the acquired mass during transformation from werewolf to human. Wouldn't it be simpler and more efficient to only use the existing body mass? Both ways have ...

Re: Transmission and Turning process

I seem to have glossed past this thread. may as well toss in a thought dump while I'm here. I generally concur with the bulk of Scot's basic transmission/incubation theory. Two things I'd add are: The specifics of the infection vectors, which I have down as either a two pronged or multi-pronged vect...

I think it will happen, or the technology at least. I was going to post a topic about this but pulled it. Long story short, I can see partial and complete organisms being built to test such things as stem-cell based brain and nervous system therapies on a blank slate central nervous system, everythi...

I hope I live to see it :) . The Robot werewolves I mean, not earth shattering meteor strikes, that would suck... Asteroid 99942 Apophis is calculated to have a small chance of striking the earth on April 13 2036 and killing everybody. Think happy thoughts... :D Umm. Nope. :cyborg3: :thpt2: On a ha...

Re: What will you do...?

Fainting? I don't know, I guess it could happen, I don't know enough about the biology of fainting to make a case for it, maybe phychological trauma or extreme phobia might do it. The only time I got any autonomous nervous reaction to anything remotely wolf like was when a dog ran at me as a kid whe...

Re: What will you do...?

Yeah, so am I, wolves might show themselves a little while they're keeping tabs on you, the difference is, you know it, I know it, that wolves will generally leave you alone. But, if you didn't know that, and not everybody does, what else do we know about wolves? They eat things, but they kill it fi...

Re: What will you do...?

Terastas i think fainting would be rare in case of coming face to face with a werewolf(feral form)... because werewolf in feral form looks like wolf and there is not anything so scary about a wolf or a wolf pack too cause fainting... Have you ever seen a real wolf? Gray wolves are a minimum of a hu...
