Re: Guild Wars 2

I've been (and still am) eagerly awaiting GW2 when it's done. I rather enjoyed the first one (admittedly I only played the original GW and not the expansions) and they've seem to only made it better since then with all these neat bits like having a sort of personal story, running around and finding ...

Re: Red Riding Hood mod in Torchlight

This is turning out to look pretty good. The animations are pretty smooth, too. Interesting how the bit of stuff on the arms folds out into an actual bow.

Re: Police try to kill a man for absolutely nothing

Add to this the fact that it is now illegal in 12 states to film a police officer without their consent and I'm seriously considering moving to Canada. This bothers me more than anything else. Who watches the watchmen? No one, apparently. Most likely someone within the department/system whose best ...

Re: Werewolf Lifespan?

If lycanthropy did prevent aging it'd keep one's mind sharp (as that lack of sharpness is due to aging) and so long as one remains immersed in culture I think they could keep up very well. There's no culture shock that way - no leaving and then coming back to find that suddenly everyone has a car o...

Re: The current generation of werewolf fans.

Actually the hybrid (Gestalt if you will) form of the werewolf has its roots in early 20th century films, such as Werewolf of London and The Wolf Man. The first wasn't biped at all . They even had the front half of that quadrupedal beast mounted on something like a skateboard (or some other wheeled...

Re: When did the idea of non evil werewolves come from?

Well . In my opinion werewolves from Werewolf:The Forsaken (another White Wolf's RPG) also weren't evil . They are more wild and they not always control themselves ,but still most of them don't kill humans without good reason. Apocalypse, I think, is what started the modern 'non-Evil' werewolf (eve...

Re: What should a werewolf be?

On the subject of muscles I personally prefer the more slender (though still noticably muscled) look. I'm a sucker for 'realism' (or the closest thing you get with fictional subjects) and like the aesthetic of lanky, wraithlike werewolves like the ones in Dog Soldiers. Tall thing shadows slipping ou...

Re: Could a werewolf family be sophisticated?

Stark actually works rather well as a werewolf parallel, as he has to sneak off to do his stuff, whereas everyone else can do theirs with only a minor bit of obfuscation. Alter some descriptions, and it could easily be him saying "I am Wolf Man." in front of a room full of reporters. Ther...

Re: Werewolf Lifespan?

It would depend on how you interpreted aging, and whether or not you agreed that lycanthropes are regenerative. If you think of aging as just a gradual decay from overuse, then it could be reversed continually by lycanthropic regeneration. A werewolf may simply reach the age where they would start ...

Re: Would you Willingly turn someone?

I wouldn't do it to someone against their will - in addition the massive ethical issues involved (as you will massively disrupt the other's life in uncountable ways) it is exceptionally hazardous to your health to give someone: A) A reason to want to rip your guts out and B) Big sharp claws with whi...

Re: Werewolf Lifespan?

I voted for "Slightly Higher than Human lifespan (100-150 yrs)." From my (outdated) werewolf definition : For the most part, the werewolf lifespan is a good 15-20 years longer than that of humans. I'd say this as well. I'd say the werewolf's augmented healing and boosted immune system wou...

The best part is that they're also trying to outlaw Sodomy. Especially funny considering the Supreme Court already declared laws against sodomy are unconstitutional. And guess where that case came from (hint: it's abbreviation is TX). Yeah, which is why it'll never fly. Texas is just dicking around...

Sodomy, for those that don't know - or are under the false understanding that it's just anal sex - is ANYTHING BUT VAGINAL SEX.

Texas is outlawing blowjobs. Inadvertently, but still.

Hilarious.

I really, really don't see the issue. They're just doing what the young do - hell, like the doc said. Just finding a group to identify with and establish a self-identity. It's all dumb fun.

No need to really look into it any further than that.

Re: Healing abilities of weres?

Semi-Regen or Little-to-No Scarring levels sound about right to me. In a world with high explosives, automatic firearms and body armor, it's the business of monsters to be impervious to damage or capable of rapidly regenerating after a retreat from battle. Werewolves have typically fallen more into ...

Re: Could a werewolf family be sophisticated?

A werewolf is not usually immortal. Also, werewolves have a secret that usually prevents them from mingling too much with human society. They would have a much harder time becoming aristocrats. Considering that nobility tends to dabble in all sorts of affairs, secrets and whatnot, I hardly see how ...

Wow, Aki, you read Winds Of Altair, too :) One of my perennial sf favourites, would love to see it done as a film. There are tons of Sci-Fi books I'd love to see make the jump to film. Problem is they won't for ages because Sci-Fi authors tend to stick to the axiom of "It's the nature of the f...

I mean that most 'real' werewolf-movies focuss on the werewolf-character(s) and the change that they go through as the movie progresses. Instead, Dog Soldiers seems to be more focussed on action and B-movie style horror. Which was a good thing for it. Dog Soldiers is better than a lot of other were...
