You are correct, it is male lions that kill the offspring of other males. Lions also have a harem, meaning that they mate with as many females as they can.Figarou wrote: Hmmm....must of been thinking of some other animal. I don't remember if its the male lion that may kill the cubs.

Re: Season's greetings!
whoa whoa. hold on. stop the bus!! 1st of all, shouldn't it be bare and not bear? Also, when in a wolf pack, only the alphas can mate. Am I right? I know a non-alpha female wolf can have pups outside the pack. But what will the alpha female do to them? Probably kill them. Wolves have an estrus peri...

I agree that when a werewolf dies he or she should remain is whatever state in which they died. However, I do disagree slightly on the method of disposal of the bodies. To me it would seem that as in life the character of the werewolf is dependant on what kind of person they are, the ritual of death...

Okay. What about Toledo? Actually… Northeast Ohio wouldn’t be too bad of a place to live if you were a werewolf. The cost of living is fairly low so the wolf could have a low profile job that is just enough to get him by in the human world. As far as roaming territory, there is plenty of it around ...

To me, being a werewolf means the ability to pull up roots and move wherever and whenever you want, to be the master of your own life. In a sense it is the freedom and power that everyone is talking about; no more clients, bosses, or bills to worry about. But with this great freedom other things are...

Re: What Werewolves would not eat...
Something about wolves, they generally do not eat entrails. Those are usually ripped out of the prey animal and discarded for the scavengers. Well… Entrails are actually the best part of a kill for a wolf. The organs contain the highest concentration of nutrients in the body. While humans would thi...

I agree with everyone that wolf like expressions in wolf form would bring the character to life. Subtle movements such of the ears, tail, hackles and general posture can say so much more than words and fancy CGIed lip movement. It is the difference between the audience saying, ”those werewolves had ...

Mmm... I'm not sure I buy that. If that were the case then most people that died of old age would die at roughly the same time. Yet it's been scientifically proven that taking care of yourself and living certain lifestyles can increase your lifespan dramatically. Supposedly different people are bor...

I can’t remember the exact source, as it has been a few years since I saw the documentary, but there was a theory that aging was directly related to a particular chemical, gene, whatever, inside human cells. This “gene” (I will call it this for lack of knowledge of the proper term) was present at bi...

I didn’t mean that they should be silent, but rather I was referring to the tendency to use vocalizations incorrectly. I hope that some realistic werewolf-werewolf interactions make it into the movie: growling, hackles, ears, teeth, tail position, etc. But my point was that these interactions are re...

I too dislike the idea of immortal werewolves. It was mentioned in another thread that nothing is free. It seems that there would be some price to be paid for the ability to become big and powerful in the long run. Just my opinion, but it seems too convenient that all you have to do is shift and all...

Course if you are looking for a medium sized sci-fi con in the east, there’s always Marcon. It is about the same size as Anthrocon, but not specifically furry and not as anime as A-Kon. Though all are good cons.

I didn't make that WerePoodle comment originally...WolvenOne did. sorry, my bad. If two werewolves were to run into each other, they might have distinct differences, such as height, muscle build, thickness of fur, color, etc. They would still be the same kind of WereWolf, so to speak, but also diff...

I agree that panting for no reason would look odd, but it would make sense if the poor werewolf had just been running for his life, for example. With some creative camera shots, a real canine could stand in for the CGI. I can imagine a quick shot of the muzzle with puffs of steamy breath and a real ...

In wolf society the largest wolf isn’t “always” the alpha. Being alpha is more about attitude. I would like to see some variance, but I agree that 9 foot is too big. I would think that since a wolf standing on two legs and a human are roughly the same size, it wouldn't make much sense for a combinat...

It is true that the fur towards the paws does tend to be much shorter on wolves. You can clearly see the achilles tendon of a wolf, even in winter. However, I do have to disagree with the chest area. I would imagine much more fur. It is the fluff that insulates them. I don’t mean to offend anyone, i...

The paw looks really good. I want to see it furred! :) You mentioned that that was for a bipedal stance; I assume that this is a forpaw. I would also assume that the pad configuration of the hind paws would be closer to that of a real wolf, as they would be standing on them all of the time whether b...

It seems to me that the whole sex-scene thing is part of the movie “formula”. Many movies include such scenes for what appears to be no reason what so ever. Perhaps to appeal to a market segment I guess. If it furthers the plot then I am for it, tastefully done of course, otherwise leave the sex out...
