I like the idea of keeping hair, and I've never been too keen on full-shifting myself so the Gestalt tends to be the only form I acknowledge.

Hmm. I've usually heard it likened to shamanic trances, which is why I mentioned autohypnosis. The idea being that it's your spirit inhabiting a physical wolf somewhere other than your body.

I've usually heard it used to refer to "spiritual weres."

Usually involves autohypnosis and belief that you're a were_____ even if you can't physically shift.
