Re: Oil is hitting Pensacola beach
They can already do nuclear fusion... that's nothing new....the incredibly difficult part is getting it to output more energy than it takes to run the fusion reactor in the first place....for this they need good old fission reactors. So we can't really avoid fission reactors, we need one to get to t...

Re: Oil is hitting Pensacola beach
This whole mess, and the shenanigans surrounding it, are beyond all levels of stupidity I want to even try to fathom. It would be nice if, especially during this mess, the current government weren't passively dismantling and pushing aside progress with nuclear power when of the alternative energy so...

Re: Does anyone ever check their post-history?
I personally haven't gone through my post history much, buuuut a few times, online friends of mine have gone through my post history and enlightened me on things I'd completely forgotten about. Definitely true how much things can change in 5 years, even more astonishing when you have such a perfect ...

Right now it's the time of year when people are likely increasingly busy with school and work....it happens every year, the pack bounces back.

Re: Finding the Truth
A specific "untruth"? One is that humans are herbivores, not omnivores. Another is the accuracy of all historical events. Whether or not the medical field should should be trust worthy as in if medication really does "help" you and the such. That the life span is actually decrea...

If I may ask, for clarity's sake, for an example of a specific untruth you're speaking of?

Re: Venting
I'm in MA, and if I recall correctly the basic policy here for dealing with a home intruder is that you can't fight back unless they have you cornered. Otherwise you have to attempt to escape. In my opinion this is downright asinine, because it effectively implies that, in the eyes of the law, your ...

Good. I'm tired of repeating myself when my points are being ignored for the *same circular return argument*. On my end at least... discussion terminated.

Re: Respect towards atheists
...I apologize for the name misspelling. I honestly had been reading it the other way this whole time. Terastas was on a short fuse and you were pushing his buttons the entire time...maintaining circular arguments like you have been doing is going to wear on people, that does not make them childish....

Re: Respect towards atheists
You overlooked a rather important chunk of the definition there. By Webster itself as you cited, faith is also a firm belief for something for which there is no proof. The key word there is firm . Faith is a firm belief , not just any belief. Atheism does not provide proof that their is no higher p...

Re: Respect towards atheists
@morkluv: get your head out of your arse. You made this thread complaining about a lack of respect for Atheists, people were largely respectful, even Terastas while he was voicing his own personal gripes with some atheists. Suggesting Atheism is a religious stance is NOT AN INSULT TO ATHEISM... it's...

Re: Respect towards atheists
Being an avid fan of bacon....yay for pork.
And yay for the genetic unlikelihood that this will cause me problems no matter how hard I try.
Albeit, I can certainly see why some people don't like it.

Re: Respect towards atheists
However, the problem with finding "proof" is what type of proof would you need to prove the existence of God? That's the problem. It's hilariously convenient how god cannot be proven by Scientific method and people just know he is there. It lets him exist without any proof otherwise other...

Re: Respect towards atheists
@Silent Hunter: First off, the lack of ability to prove the existence of God with the Scientific Method does not mean there is none. You likewise, by the same logic, cannot DISPROVE the existence of a God in some form. Not being able to prove something does NOT necessarily disprove it. Likewise not ...

Re: Respect towards atheists
For example... the Hebrew word for "day" as used in Genesis, doesn't necessarily mean "day"... The actual word used through the first 6 days literally means "a span of time" of which is typically used for a 24 hour day. Gerald Schroeder proved that if you were standing...

Re: Respect towards atheists
For similar reasons as Terastas, I consider myself agnostic... and honestly this viewpoint can receive as much ridicule from atheists as people of a religious nature. I've been told to my face by atheists that agnosticism doesn't even deserve any dignified consideration. I've also had similarly stra...

Re: Venting
I'm going to have to agree with Redeye on this one. This is a Venting thread...people are supposed to be able to vent their frustrations and be done with it. Bringing politics into the matter causes arguments, especially with the rather matter-of-factly harsh attitudes I've seen expressed towards di...

Re: New Domain, New Name
Since "The Pack" has been the identity of these forums for so long, I feel we should keep that identity in whatever new name is chosen. "ThePackForums" I can definitely agree with, having said that. Plus, should any long-lost members choose to return, google will still lead them ...
