That's one of the things i'm going to put in my book, my character has a struggle dealing with his girlfriend and hiding his secret from her and that just makes the shift harder for him to adjust to.

Shifting probabloy relies on emotion and the moon, but look at Wolf's Rain, they shifted at will so you have to rely on that also.
