Re: love at first bite, why we love werewolves

Very interesting to hear everyone else’s stories. :) 1. I don’t remember a specific age, but I’ve been fascinated with werewolves since I was a child. I think I discovered them primarily through reading myths and folktales, which probably explains my preference for some of the old school traits over...

All I can do is string some sketches together to make a .gif file, not sure how impressive the final result will be. :P If I do it I’ll make sure to share.

Re: A beautiful werewolf?

Hmm, I didn’t know that about the Underworld werewolves. I’ll have to pay more attention to their design next time I see it. Reminds me of the werewolves in Steve Vance’s book The Hyde Effect. They mostly just grew hair and fangs and more slender/muscular limbs, and different cultures supposedly saw...

Hmm, maybe when I’ve had more animation practice I can try a really painful looking face-popping transformation focusing on teeth.

Re: What have you always wanted to see in a transformation s

I wouldn’t mind seeing something that focuses more on anatomical accuracy. For example, the way that wolves have six incisor teeth and humans have four. I can’t think of a movie where the person had some kind of shifting or popping motion to make space in the skull and allow the extra teeth to grow ...

Re: A beautiful werewolf?

I enjoy seeing what different movies do to create their own werewolf look, but I would like to see more design variety. I think one of my biggest pet peeves is fur. It usually looks long and stringy, and is one uniform color. If they borrowed more of the look of real wolves they could bulk it up to ...

Re: Do You Ever Dream About Werewolves?

I think this one came from reading discussions here before going to bed last night. :D It was a time where werewolves had recently become public knowledge, and everyone had to decide what to do about this. I was known as a human werewolf sympathizer, or maybe some people even thought I was a werewol...

Re: What to do with those who claim to be Werewolves

I wish I had a better answer to the topic’s question myself. I’ve written an extensive documentary-style guide to the version of werewolves I developed for one of my stories and posted it on DeviantArt. I keep getting comments like “Hey, I’m a werewolf, and I can’t believe how much of this you got r...

Re: Wolf Behavior vs. Human Behavior Vs. Werewolf Behavior?

if the bite only awakens something within then the nature of the person would greatly effect the responses to any given situation. This could make for some terrifying scenarios. It could work especially well if the mechanism of action for becoming a werewolf is a curse, falling back on the horror m...

Re: Grimm

I have really enjoyed it so far. It has even been educational for me despite the number of myths and folk tales I’ve read. I couldn’t tell what story Beeware was based on until I did some research and discovered The Queen Bee. It brings a nice bit of nostalgia, since I now remember reading an adapta...

Re: Wolf Behavior vs. Human Behavior Vs. Werewolf Behavior?

I often like to think of things in terms of how werewolves would be more likely to go undetected, as my favorite stories take place on modern times and familiar settings. For this, I imagine a werewolf with a more human mindset would make sense. Animal instincts would be present but not overwhelming...

Re: The Downsides to Lycanthropy

A disadvantage for me would be if becoming a werewolf altered my scent to be frightening to animals. I could never work as a vet tech again if every cat or dog I approached freaked out as soon as I came near. I did like the idea presented in the Teen Wolf series that you could maybe intimidate dogs ...

Re: A complete new idea for me.

Ginger Snaps was the first thing that came to mind for me too. I think it showed pretty well just how difficult it would be. Imagine if your body is not only slowly changing but your mind too. Unstable, confused or aggressive behavior combined with a slow physical change would make survival difficul...

I have but one thing to suggest here:

Tranquilizer darts loaded with LSD.
Reminds me of something I sometimes see in stories about aliens, where a person who is abducted and returned is left drunk or at least smelling like alcohol so that no one would believe him.

Not going to be on much any more

Apparently my laptop is jinxed and has decided to ban me from the Pack forums. I got logged off and every time I try to log back in I am immediately logged off again. Re: Several questions about werewolves.

I see it used occasionally, often in fantasy series where a ton of critters are interacting alongside humans (the Harry Potter series would be one example, but I know there are some others that are more werewolf-centric). Sometimes that can be done well, but sometimes it does make things seem a bit ...

Re: What to do with a human who knows too much?

I like the idea of the kindred/familiars. If you are trying to hide your existence from the majority of society a small group like that would be useful as allies. So far I have been all over the place with this in my own character’s universe. In the past it was culturally acceptable for them to use ...

What to do with a human who knows too much?

A thought that just occurred to me last night that might offer some fun discussion. :) I think if I was out in the woods or something and accidentally let a human see me I would panic and run away. I’m not too good at making quick decisions, so I would probably learn who the human is and then ...

Ok so how is it that they, a werewolves claws, can slice as shown through things like a knife? Only the points are sharp. In order to do this wouldn't the entire length of each claw requirer having an edge like a knife? Movie physics/“rule of cool” wins out over realism nine times out of ten when m...

Re: The link between Werewolves and Vampires?

The werewolf bite was stolen from vampires by Hollywood. It made for a much more compelling story element since it had more potential for unwilling werewolves than, well, taking a human-skin belt and wearing it to turn into one. Going that route pretty much defines your werewolf as a villain rather...
