Re: A-Kon 2013 in Dallas

Glad I could be of help. I just wish I got a video of the All-Con panel, which was larger and more comprehensive.

It's too close to A-Kon; between A-Kon and Dragon*Con, I tend to be budget-wise pretty committed over the summer.

Re: A-Kon 2013 in Dallas

Already planning for A-Kon 25! Cathey and I were there for A-Kon 24, and Cathey worked the con, so not only was she there, she was herself the con! I got photos, and I shared them from Facebook with the A-Kon web site photo page . One of them even got featured on the main photo page. I also recorded...

PS3 is my platform of choice. I'm ScottGardener. Just one problem: I have so little free time that I game about once every month or two.

Re: What's the name of the movie?

Basically, GlaDOS from Portal sends Evangelion/Gundam mechs to fight Cthulhu. If this movie isn't awesome, I'll be very disappointed. Granted, I won't be too worked up if the plot is weak or the characters one-dimensional, but it should be what Battleship tried to be, only better at it.

Re: Human domination, could we be more ignorant?

Thanks for the links. You have to keep in mind that human cultures propagate viral memes, and you'll get exposed to whatever is propagating in your own culture. Here on the Internet, it's cat videos and My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic . But, when talking to people, it's religious models. I'd adv...

Re: Oh-Oh! The Newly Bitten

It's all a matter of tact. There's a difference between the right way and the wrong way: The right way: apologetically restraining someone temporarily and saying, look, sorry, but you'll thank me later; you're going to need our help. You're not going to believe what I need to tell you, so I'll have ...

Re: A Moral Dilemma

Pragmatism overrides morals on this; you'd have to hold her against her will until she fully appreciated what was about to happen to her. Having a newly infected lycanthrope on the loose, who doesn't even know she's a werewolf or has yet to believe it after being told, would be too dangerous to both...

Re: Ghosts

I don't think there's a unified Hollywood canon. Even Howling sequels contradict the original movie: in the original movie, we establish that the full moon is "a bunch of Hollywood Bologna. They can change whenever they want to, any time." But, in Howling VI , the lycanthropic lead charact...

Re: The Nuts & Bolts of the Transformation to Full Wolf

High levels of LR-3 from the pineal body and LR-2 from the hypothalamus activate reflex pathways along the craniosacral reciprocal tension membrane, coordinating activation of lycanthropic contractilin/shiftin complexes throughout... Maybe I'm getting too complicated. I picture anatomic congruence o...

Re: Human domination, could we be more ignorant?

You've covered the essentials already. My feelings on this are what broke me out of religious dogma when I was still a child. I grew up in East Texas, surrounded by Fundamentalist Christians. I was perfectly OK with believing everything until they got to the part about only humans having souls. Then...
