Re: Respect towards atheists

Humanism is the secularization of Judeo-Christian ideology anyway.

Also, I was under the impression that scientists do not believe that the development of life is dependent on random chance, but on predictable chemical and physical phenomenon. (See Hoyle's fallacy.)

Re: James Cameron's Avatar

But, getting back to Avatar , my wife Cathey and I have seen it three times, and we're already planning a fourth time, this time at the IMAX. We've been listening to the soundtrack over and over, and, Eywa help me, I'm even writing fan fiction. What's really annoying is that it's some of the best w...

around the time period of the Salem Witch Trials. They did everything from turning our holiest symbol into their symbol of the devil, the pentagram, to making witches look like dark, evil beings, when the Wiccan Rede, one of the only actual rules in this religion, clearly speaks against any type of...

Re: Games you loved as a little kid but wouldn't play now

Would you believe me if I told you that I not only frequently played Ghostbusters as a kid, but that my brother actually insisted it was one of the greatest games ever released on any Nintendo console system ever (until the release of Goldeneye for the N64)? Today I can't believe I used that thing ...

Games you loved as a little kid but wouldn't play now

For me, it's NBA Jam. I loved this on the Super Nintendo, but nowadays, I can't bring myself to even touch it, even though I still like lots of classic games. Sports just don't appeal to me at all... even over-the-top fantasy sports... unless it's Mario Kart.

Re: What makes a werewolf an interesting werewolf

For the werewolf aspect of a character to be interesting, the story needs to be about the fact that he's a werewolf. That only seems logical. If the focus is on something else, then obviously that fact will be glossed over. Same thing with vampires. Actually, every good story about the supernatural ...

Re: The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion

I've tried several times to get into Oblivion, but I just can't do it. It's very pretty but too "uncanny valley" and the world doesn't immerse me. It's a common complain that I hate to echo, but the entire world looks the same! And the dungeons are just so darn repetitive. I prefer Morrowi...

Re: Melding clothing with the shifter

The whole concept of clothing is a tricky one, but for books, I don't really see why people insist on making it a gray area. I think people just don't like the idea of writing out the fact that the person is naked. I know as a writer(some of my stories are of lycans), while I do try to keep it real...

Re: Melding clothing with the shifter

I always thought the idea of clothes "melding" with someone was a little weird, I dunno, just makes me uneasy. I'd prefer at the very least their magical disappearance and reappearance instead.

Re: What to do with those who claim to be Werewolves

True, therians don't normally call themselves werewolves, but I've seen some therians use that term to describe themselves on different (and older) websites... But it tends to be fairly obvious what they mean, if they use that term. I've seen therians call themselves werewolves before too on other ...

One of the most profound comments on immortality is quoted from Shadow of the Vampire: "Dracula hasn't had servants in 400 years and then a man comes to his ancestral home, and he must convince him that he... that he is like the man. He has to feed him, when he himself hasn't eaten food in cent...

It defines blasphemy as "publishing or uttering matter that is grossly abusive or insulting in relation to matters sacred by any religion, thereby intentionally causing outrage among a substantial number of adherents of that religion, with some defences permitted". I don't think they're g...

I watched Dragonheart again yesterday for the first time in many years. The ending still makes me teary-eyed, even though the movie has it's flaws. Still one of the saddest and most epic movie themes ever, and no wonder it's been used in many other movie trailers: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UTKS...

Scared of a potential Eurabia? Yes, actually. People are scared of Islamic cultural hegemony, and rightfully so. Sharia law is incompatible with European cultures which have existed for centuries. Politicians in Europe live under the Nazi ghost and are too weak to challenge the spread of Islam for ...
