Re: The Downsides to Lycanthropy

Actually i did read a book that brought up a good point: in this case, the main characters father suffers from cancer, and eventually dies from it, and it's made worse by the fact he's a were cat. Why? because healing means cells multiply... including bad ones. So technically, wouldn't that mean a ...

Re: Dogman of michigan: real?

Hey, this was one of my first posts way back when, and I'm gonna necro-post/revive it, because it is now a confirmed hoax, which everyone is probably already aware of, but still closure is always nice.

Beast of Bowen Island

This post is a little late, as the drama already played itself out last year, and it turned out to be a wolf-dog hybrid, but it was a neat story, and I followed it closely when it was happening. Basically, I came in to work one day, the morning after the full moon, and there was a headline in the Th...

Re: The Grey - (2012)

I boycotted it, not because the wolves are monsterized (that's par for the hollywood course), but because they actually ordered four wolf carcasses from a trapper; two to be used as props, and two were actually eaten by cast and crew, because there is a scene in the movie where they eat wolf meat, a...

Re: Underworld: Awakening

This one was actually my second fave of the series, which i'm a huge fan of. SPOILERS AHEAD> For me, the best thing about Awakening was that in the first few minutes, you get to see lycans and vamps getting hunted down in a variety of situations, and it is stated that many people lost loved ones to ...

Re: A beautiful werewolf?

One thing that occurred to me with the underworld lycans specifically, is how versatile that look is. It's got elements common to all large mammalian predators, yet is just human/monstrous enough to avoid specificity. In some shots it's wolf-like, in others bear-like, and catlike alot of the time. ...

Re: A beautiful werewolf?

yeah HP was a huge disappointment. I walked in to the theatre thinking "hey, this is a HUGE budget movie, the werewolf will be badass!" and he wasn't. in the books, HP werewolves are almost completely wolf-like.. i would have preferred that. At least the TF was cool, and Sirius in Dog form...

Re: The Downsides to Lycanthropy

One downside would be the emotional distance you would have to keep everyone at, and also food would probably smell pretty awful to a super-keen nose. Another side-effect, if not downside, is if you gained the healing factor/semi-immortality like in many werewolf stories, I would take up smoking aga...

Re: A beautiful werewolf?

Incidentally, props to Wolf-man-24 who pointed out that the underworld wolves can be reminiscent of many animals, bears, cats, etc, with just enough of a hint of human, that was a very good point, still, I think a lot of people want to see the wolf well and truly nailed. The Meeper. Hey, thanks :D ...

Re: A beautiful werewolf?

Re: A beautiful werewolf?

Ok, my above post is a little bit schizo, I guess I like all werewolves. I judge on an individual basis, like "Oh many that is one ugly beast. But he is pretty badass!" or "Why did they make the werewolf so ugly if he's supposed to be a good guy?" it depends. The werewolf with th...
