Re:

Silver is there so werewolves aren't completely invincible. If someone in a story has no weakness, that story isn't nearly as intersting. Also, we might as well give humans a small chance at defending themselves :D Silver is there so werewolves aren't completely invincible. If someone in a story ha...

Werewolf racing, or lack thereof

So, I've noticed that there's no real dedicated discussion in this desert about werewolves as racers. No, I don't mean car racing. I can only assume that it's because people don't think there's no real kind of "beast inside" tepid drama to be found in overglorified greyhound racing compare...

Re: Clothes

Only if the faux-fur underwear looked like it came out of Walmart or Poundland. Although personally, I'd rather just stick to the plain old colored stretchy-wear. Preferably one with a hood.

Re: Clothes

So, I've noticed something very important: Actual canines don't have massive firecrotches like a lot of us do. I think this is reason enough to warrant the research of magic pants and onesies. You wouldn't want your dick or your tits dangling and swinging all over the place, now, would you? Especial...

Re: Speech?

Comparatively, birds are not known to really understand human speech, yet certain ones can reproduce it far better. Understatement of the year. Crows, ravens, budgerigars, lyrebirds, but most impressive I've heard, the hill mynah, as linked. Where werewolves are often depicted as very catlike in th...

Re: JUST red meat?

A friend of mine actually said something to similar effect, but it did help me make my decision on what I need. I just can't think of any other logical explanation other than the fact that changing would be a physically demanding activity, and that even the experienced would find it wise to chow dow...

Re: Speech?

you are right, but for 8 hour per month some werewolfs would think its not worth it. "Some". Keyword there. By that wording, there are also "some" that think what little hours they spend having changed would be very precious learning periods. Never, ever say never. If there's an...

Re: Speech?

What's really to stop you from teaching yourself intelligible human speech, even with all the growling and barking still present in your speech? If even budgerigars can imitate human speech, then surely you can give it a try. I mean, you're half-human , it wouldn't hurt to at least try. And that's ...

Re: Speech?

I haven't really spent time reading the entire thread in great detail, but let's say that you start out by speaking in canine noises, because, let's face it, you're new at this. You don't know your new body. You don't know which is what, what left is to right. What's really to stop you from teaching...

Re: JUST red meat?

What still stumps me is why people write werewolves as almost exclusively craving for meat, like for when their bodies are going through somewhat drastic changes after their first transformation. Just what is it that red meat has that would give such cravings? Protein? If it's protein, then consider...

JUST red meat?

What exactly is it that red meat has that wolves need, to the point where it's essentially the only thing a werewolf can really have? What is to stop the idea that, say, having retained the human dietary needs, the real thing that would feed and nourish a freshly converted/changed and hungry werewol...

Re: Are we too much focusing on realism?

The most important thing to remember on both extremes of this topic is to try to inject FUN into it. Is it smart? Is it stupid? Doesn't matter, if it's not fun, then it's either boring or infuriating.

Re: Are we too much focusing on realism?

Absolutely not. I think the real problem is that, realistic or fantastic, a lot of us fall into the trap of Bullshit Invocation, and that hurts both execution and overall product quality. It doesn't even have to be the nitty gritty of werewolf lore, all it takes is something like poor narrative str...

The relationship between a werewolf and a disabled human

To keep this brief, I work at a factory that specially houses the disabled as workers like any other. I've spent my time realizing that, for all the ill will my co-workers have against each other, they seem to have a good grip on what might have happened to themselves, or have already known what hap...

Sorry, Scott, but when I'm hungry for idiot blood, I go after everyone. I don't want to hear a thing coming out of that guy's assflaps when he starts getting that "Man's place" bullshit enforced on *HIM* when he gets hunted by other humans. You want superiority? Better earn it or other humans'll earn it out of his dead body.

That's not really my area of knowledge. I'm more interested about clothing that's shift-friendly and size-friendly (to a fault), that eliminates most need for a phone-booth-quickchange. Because, you know, mountains and forests have no such thing.

I just noticed that no one has mentioned modified overalls, jumpsuits and dungarees and whether or not they're an ideal choice for especially mobile werewolves traveling light.

Then again I may just be grasping at straws again. WHOOP

"Carry a needle and a thread" is actually something militaries expect EVERYBODY to be doing even today. They don't appreciate them "make me a sammich" dumbos who don't keep their uniform (or their equipment that don't blow things up, for that matter) up to snuff because they thin...

Re: Indecision 2012

Normally I don't touch on politics with a ten-thousand foot pole, but the s*** Romney did that made headlines for me to see, read, and speculate, made me genuinely worry about what kind of nation America would devolve into if he was the president. In fact, I imagined he'd be the type that secretly b...
