Re: "I feel that I've finished living. Farewell, everyone."

Interesting idea. I’ve never heard about the ascetics. They can cause themselves to die by willpower alone? I’m fairly skeptical of people who claim to be able to control autonomic functions, though perhaps some day scientific investigation could explain this. I like the idea for werewolves though. ...

Re: Do You Ever Dream About Werewolves?

I had a really interesting one last night. Though not technically werewolf based, it is one of my best shapeshifter dreams so far. The dream was in two parts. In the first part, I was with a group of people taking a tour around a big city. It was set in some kind of futuristic world, where the gover...

Re: Human on the inside, Beast on the outside

Some cultures have a similar theory, only with souls instead of genetics. By an accident of birth a person can be born with all or part of their soul switched with that of an animal, giving them the ability to change into that particular species of animal. I can’t remember how it usually goes, but I...

Re: Two questions... [Safehouses and werewolf training]

Haha, didn’t know the duckies actually meant something. Haven’t thought much about safehouses. My characters own property that serves as “bases” for various activities, but I don’t know if that would count as the same thing. For my characters, if the Pack has recently accepted someone who hasn...

That's a good one, Gevaudan. :) I never get to be with anyone else in my werewolf dreams, it's always just me vs. the world.

Re: A Werewolf in Motion

Ooo, fun! :) 1. My version finds the 2 main forms, full human and full wolf, to be most practical for movement. Since they have control over shifts they can choose based on what is most practical at the time. Walking is probably the only gait that you would see them do in bipedal mode, since they so...

I managed to get my hands on a copy of Passion in the Desert! Looks like it is indeed based on that old story I read. I look forward to watching it. :)

Re: What’s the most you ever dun to be more like a werewolf

Hmm, a few things I guess, though more behavior just to be silly than altering my looks. I have pointy canine teeth that kind of look like fangs, so I’m always staring at myself in the mirror and making werewolf faces for fun. Sometimes when I have to be in a group and take funny face pictures I mak...

Re: AHHHHHHHHHHH SILVER

I just saw an episode of The Twilight Zone today that had silver being used to kill witches because of it being a “pure metal.” I think I like the magical explanation of it repelling evil/cursed things more than the explanation than they are allergic to it. :P

Re: Anger issues

It would have to be something pretty extreme for me, since I just tend to bottle everything up. Feeling like I am facing a serious threat/attack would probably be enough (being stalked by some creepy pervert would make me pretty mad). A dog once tried to attack me a few years ago, maybe that would h...

Re: AHHHHHHHHHHH SILVER

Silver damages cells? What about all of those people with argyria from ingesting silver? It gets deposited in their tissues and discolors them, but I’ve never heard of it actually hurting anyone. Then again just about anything can be toxic in the right doses. Even too much oxygen is harmful, go figu...

Re: Do You Ever Dream About Werewolves?

A few weeks ago I did, sorta. I dreamed there were a bunch of wolves running around town, rolling around in the snow and stuff. Then the next night I had a dream where I was walking down a road here in town where there are few streetlights. Somehow I saw a shadow moving behind me ( I guess I sprout...

Re: Weak points

Many physical weaknesses have been mentioned, but how about sensory weaknesses? If a werewolf has enhanced senses that could end up being a weak spot. Really bright lights, loud noises, or strong unpleasant smells could prove incapacitating, at least temporarily. I’ve even used that as a plot device...

Oh man, mine are really weird. :P The giant rats (ROUS) from the movie The Princess Bride. Re: The Term "Lycan".

Ergot poisoning (a fungus) can cause hallucinations, but it isn’t the same thing as the psychological lycanthropy. From what I remember it may have actually been more likely to make a person think that they were being attacked by an animal than that they had themselves become one.

Re: The Term "Lycan".

The version of that story that I read is that Zeus was on one of his jaunts where he randomly got human women pregnant( as a wolf no less....) and one of them was the wife of King Lycaon. Now the child that she had from Zeus was treated pretty badly by the king (sort of like Cinderella.) and Zeus f...

It’s not that he doesn’t understand them, I know that he’s studied them for many years, but from what I’ve seen of his work represented on that Wolf Man show on Animal Planet his style makes me cringe. Stunts like feeding a wild animal raw meat out of your mouth just don’t sit well with me, I’ve hea...
