Re: Could a werewolf family be sophisticated?
Stark actually works rather well as a werewolf parallel, as he has to sneak off to do his stuff, whereas everyone else can do theirs with only a minor bit of obfuscation. Alter some descriptions, and it could easily be him saying "I am Wolf Man." in front of a room full of reporters. For a...

Re: Werewolf marathon!
But yet, you don't consider Van Helsing a werewolf/vampire movie even though it focuses on a character that gets bitten by a werewolf, becomes a werewolf, and then fights Dracula??? Yeah, that makes a lot of sense. I have to agree with Morkulv, though possibly not for the same reason, Van He...

Re: Could a werewolf family be sophisticated?
This is just my opinion, but many of the themes of vampire upper society can be very easily carried over to werewolf upper society, and were themselves carried over from human upper society. The common themes being some sort of superiority to the unwashed masses, leeching off the efforts of others, ...

Re: What is a true werewolf?
I would have to say that to qualify for werewolf status, you would need to be able to turn into a wolf without needing outside assistance, such as possession, magic spells or furs or potions, and possess the lifeforce of both. For this reason, I typically depict werewolves as being able to transform...

Re: MTV new werewolf series
Hmm. I used to watch Forever Knight, way back in the 1600s or whenever it was airing, and I've been recently looking around for the dvds, or even the vhs, but so far no luck. The only thing in the article that has me interested in any real way is the mention of KNB Effects Group doing the makeup. Th...

Re: How do you pronounce Gestalt?
"Jest-alt", alt as in 'Alternative', which I find amusing. I imagine most alternative ways of pronouncing it would be due to different accents, such as "Guest-alt", which would seem more appropriate since the word starts with G and not J.

Re: Repo Men
Really? You thought the ending was good? Not that they just ripped off the ending to Jacob's Ladder to try and pull a fast one at the end? That's the impression I honestly got: that some tool that only knows how to direct shallow explodey action flicks threw on a "surprise" ending to try ...

Re: What to do in case of lycanthropic outbreak?
I've recently come to the realization that my prior survival plan was flawed, since it essentially required me to turn myself into canned ham waiting to be pried open and eaten. Mobility would be ideal, even against werewolves, as it doesn't give them day after day to find a weakness in my defenses ...

I liked it, and found it very amusing that I watched it and thought "Gee whiz, that's an ending that would have made The Matrix trilogy even better", and then soon after read a blog post about fan theories that make good movies even better and ithat same ending is featured for The Matrix. ...

Kitestu, I bought it for $150 in Canadian-land funbucks, but I've seen it available online for anywhere between 100-220 bucks, but the cheap site didn't ship outside the US.
Yeah, that's the way I was stringing it, except I got my finger caught right up at the top as I was getting the string in place.

I recently bought myself a very sexy entry-level takedown recurve bow, and feel the need to tell people about it. A Ragim Matrix to be specific, 34 pound draw weight, and about 66 inches with the limbs on. It's bigger and more authoritative than the 20 pound rental bow I've been using for the past w...

And now I'm thinking about dragons...and Chinatown, and that I do need something both suitably impressive and indicative of faded glory. Not too cliche I hope, having a dragon hiding out in chinatown with those few that still believe in it?

Re: Finding the Truth
I've actually been puttering around with the design work and philosophy for a group with an aim much like this one, for a storyline I'm developing. They started off purely as a non-hostile pseudo-comedy antagonistic, doing stuff like breaking into research facilities and inadvertantly releasing the ...

Re: About all these medical test scenarios...
I recently saw an episode of CSI(I think, maybe it was Castle, or Criminal Minds) where a blood sample from suspect involved in the crime was analyzed and it had distinctive wolf traits, which puzzled the lab techs to no end. Turns out the guy was taking wolf hormone suppliments for whatever reason,...

What does Antonio Banderas have to do with the Wolfman? Are you thinking of Benicio Del Toro? Also, yeah, it was a major dissappointment. I suppose that explains how there were maybe four other people in the theater when I went, even though it was an excellent timeslot. Personally I don't think that...

Wait a minute. If the werewolf trait is passed through genetics. Then can the mother be able to have her pregnancy in human form and the cubs wouldn't have the genetics of the werewolf trait. Or the mother can have the trait, have the cubs in wolf form and the cubs still wouldn't have the trait. Or...

Re: Respect towards atheists
I suppose I shall dip my feet into this here pie. Personally I find it to be almost intolerable when, for whatever reason, I tell someone I'm an atheist and their reaction is to try and fill this 'void' in my soul with their religion. My mother I will tolderate it from, since I was actually raised a...
