If the leader is military, I would expect it. Otherwise, I think a pack of Werewolves would sooner or later recognize the utility of signs fo technical communications. It may happen later in the development of their culture, though.

"ONE"? A Werewolf says, "ONE". What an odd thing to say! :) BTW, that's the way I would see Gestalt/wolf form - human communication. Since Werewolves in those forms are not really built for speech, they growl out words as best they can (and with difficulty until they get used to ...

My favorite Werewolf book is Robert McCammon's Hour of the Wolf. I think my favorite short story was in one of Clive Barker's Books of Blood. I think it was caled something like Moonlight over Moscow. I have enjoyed Alice Borchardt's Maniel series I really enjoyed Howling Mad. I rarely laugh out lou...

Yeah, the Arizona Werewolf was awful. Lupin ........ boy, I never thought I'd say it about any Werewolf but that one should have been wearing clothes .... embarrassing. I haven't seen Darkwolf. From what I've heard, that's a mercy. The frolicking Werewolves in Howling II were also embarrassing - not...

Have you ever noticed how often people are offended by what was intended to be innocent language on the Internet. That's because even verbal laguage has an empathic factor and it isn't conveyed well over the Internet. The more technical language is used, the less likely it is to be misunderstood. Th...

Well, you should be able to make it work. You'll just have to be more crafty (heavy on "craft") to get points across.

Hey, when I stump my toe (which I do way too often in my cluttered apartment), I snarl. If I tried barking, I would probably choke on it. Actually, as hard as I hit, I'm pretty mindless. Trying is out of the question. I might have missed this but, are these Werewolves going to be capable of speech? ...

But it's not a bad analogy Figarou. A howl is compkex, audible emoticon. If I howled right now and you knew me well enough to know how I felt in different situations, you would think, "Boy! He just ate something big and is now blissfully stuffed." You probably wouldn't know that it was a 4...

O.o

But, if you don't, it might get away.

Oh, I get it. You eat the legs first. That sounds like a lot of effort to me, though.

Well, in my case, it would be. "Ack, cough. sputter, spit, sput, AOWOWOWOoooooooooooblah!" And all the wolves said, "Hey, man, he's found shashimi. Lezgo!" But there's another point. Empathy is a subjective language. Everyone hearing a howl (even humans) would understand it's con...

I gave an example above of what I thought a howl might be able to communicate and what it wouldn't. I agree that it would be limited but it would still be quite a lot more than "I'm here."

That's true. If you start willthe bill going down first and fold the legs back then the feathers all point in the right direction. You are wise far beyond your years.

Howls aren't that simple. It's not just their "melody" - the inflections and grace notes and tremolo that wolves put in. Howls are also loaded with harmonics that change from one howl to the next, even in the same wolf.

Orange sauce. Ducks need orange sauce -with just enough oil in it to make the feathers slide down without getting crosswise your craw.

Is that Mind Games? I have that book. I was in a Mind Games group back in the 70s until we went to a meeting one cold, snowy winter night and the leader was drunk as a skunk. Heh, his consciousness was too altered for us to proceed that night. It didn't really go anywhere else after that. I don't th...

Aye, I fall off walls.....

:P

But our church is made of sculpted stone and I do catch myself, sometimes, looking at those particular walls wth longing. That would be a fun climb.

Eh. I'm too outa shape, anyway.

O.O Hey, wait! I climb the walls sometimes! Hmmmmm...no, that wouldn't work. I fall off pretty quickly. But I climb trees really well. Maybe they can climb trees! And cliffs! I climb cliffs really well too and I don't fall off cliffs.......well there was that one time, but I don't want to talk about...

:) For my part, it's not too bad. I've carved out a pretty good niche for myself in the church and my profession and the city where I live. Still I catch flack from people that don't know me and that happens pretty often on the Internet. Fortunately, I feel pretty good about myself so it doesn't muc...

Rondentia, you haven't offended me. Shoot! I don't see anything you said wrong but, even if you had, I'm a Christian Werewolf, don't you think I've developed a thick enough hide by now? I don't shift, I'm a contherianthrope (which is a Therian that doesn't shift). And that's not exactly true either....
