Re: AHHHHHHHHHHH SILVER

My comment was not one hundred percent directed at Wingman, it was a general observation of what usually happens when I debate on this forum.
1) Always reply to sarcasm with a hint of sincerity and light-heartedness.

I'm going to be seeing glowing energy slongs in my nightmares from now until they day I die.

It was all right, didn't really live up to the hype, it certainly wasn't a bad film.

Re: Apparently we aren't trying to give a different approach...

When you rip away the qualities that make a creature of legend what it is, in the end it's not what you started out with. Part of the allure of the werewolf tale is the story of a man becoming a monster, perhaps against his will or even without his knowledge. Making werewolves "just one of the ...

Re: AHHHHHHHHHHH SILVER

From a storytelling standpoint, I've found silver is usefull if you find that you have written your werewolves as ridiculously strong and tough. Why go back and rewrite your werewolves as weaker when you can just go "AHAHAHAHA! SILVER BULLETS YOU PIGF###ERS!"? (And yes, that was a line fro...

Wolves of Rome: "Si Vis Pacem Para Bellum"

"If you want peace, prepare for war" “The Roman Empire is falling, enemies within and without threaten to tear her down. In the middle, a single pack of newborn werewolves is caught in a power struggle between two warring factions. The barbarian werebears and the werewolf Pack Lords who ha...

Re: I have an interesting question

The only way I could envision one becoming the other would be in the event of a dead werewolf, one that had been killed and left in the freezer long enough for his lycanthropy to have died as well. Maybe then it could be infected with vampirisim, but it would be a vampire that used to be a werewolf...

Re: Bears versus Wolves in history and mythology

Another way to look at it is wolves, at first glance, might be considered cowardly and skulking animals, attacking the weak and sick en masse is hardly the behavior of a noble creature. Because of this wolves might be viewed by the uneducated mind as untrustworthy, frightening, alien. The bear in co...

Re: The Term "Lycan".

Probably an oversimplification, but Lycanthrope is basically the Greek word for werewolf, when Clinical Lycanthropy was first identified and diagnosed the Doctor who discovered/named it probably wanted to sound cute or ironic and named the disease for the legend. Slightly OT: As of Rise of the Lycan...

As mentioned before, a werewolf can excel at hunting if he can get a pretty penny. A few might be outright poachers as well.

Re: On the Man Eater Issue

No, I read all of it. I just disregard anything I don't think I could ever use or being valid for creative thinking. We were discussing reasons why a werewolf might attack and feed on a human being, the reasons why a werewolf wouldn't attack someone for food is a subject that's been brought up and ...

Re: On the Man Eater Issue

Done a little more refinement on the idea. How's this, werewolves don't just form packs because of instinct, but as a kind of "werewolf support group." A pack locates a newly infected werewolf and keeps him from "falling off the wagon" and loosing control, while watching each oth...

Re: On the Man Eater Issue

How would an irrational mind reflect on its previous life and apply itself to counteract it? An irrational predator would have zero regard for cause and effect and would just attack whatever is available, human or otherwise. But if a werewolf is rational enough to weigh all the pros of hunting huma...

Re: On the Man Eater Issue

No... not really... Even if it had healing abilities, you pump enough lead into it, and it will stay down. Which is why most of the old horror movies suck: the werewolf ends up dead in the end... and it always seems to go after humans, who have groups of detectives to hunt down killers, military wi...

And even today, how many films about good non man eating werewolves are there? No films, but lots and lots of books. Pretty much the entire paranormal romance genre. Oh, and there'll be a little film called "New Moon" coming out soon... Gah, Twilight. That entire series makes me cry...

Re: On the Man Eater Issue

Don't forget the most important part of all: humans are vengeful creatures. You never see deer or caribou turning to fight a pack of wolves -- they let the wolves pick off the sickly members of their herds and get the hell out of there while they're busy feeding. If a wild animal were to attack and...
