Re: If I was John McCain

I'd have to say that I agree. Having to vote against a candidate (or their veep nominee as it were) sucks when what I'd rather be doing is voting for a candidate. I, for one would love to vote for McCain, but am going to vote for Obama simply because Palin scares me. That said, I feel the need to em...

Not that that's stopping us from making asinine public statements that Turkey should have to apologize for actions that were committed by the Ottoman Empire. Hypocrisy: Just one of the many services we as Americans provide.

That booking photo is priceless. That's even better than the guy on Cops last Saturday whom they caught stealing copper wire -- wearing a Cops T-shirt. :D

Re: If I was John McCain

McCain had the lunatic superconservatives in the bag already. He didn't have to nominate a VP until after he had won the Republican nomination. Seriously, was he worried that they might vote for Obama? Not true. The Republican Party was in serious revolt after his nomination. The concern was not th...

Re: If I was John McCain

I'm sure that he hoped to cash in on the disgruntled female vote with Palin after Clinton lost the Democratic primary, but I think the real thrust in choosing her was to shore up the lunatic wing of the Republican Party. Remember that with McCain alot of what McCain has been spouting off recently ha...

I don't know, I really enjoyed the book. The part where Farley Mowat tries to contact Churchill, Manitoba by radio, but due to atmospheric skip gets some HAM operator in Chile instead was hilarious. :D

Re: Idea for The Pack flyer

I can now confirm it. It's an illustration from page 113 of the Werewolf: The Apocalypse Player's Sourcebook published in 1999 (the so-called "Second Edition" book). Sorry Berserker. :( EDIT: As an aside, a copy of that book is briefly seen lying on the floor in the protagonist's bedroom i...

Re: Idea for The Pack flyer

I wouldn't bet on getting the rights for the artwork anytime soon. I'm pretty sure I recognize it. I'm almost certain it's a Ron Spencer piece from old Werewolf: The Apocalypse. I'd also advise against using it without getting permission. White Wolf is pretty lawsuit-happy. They sued Sony because th...

Re: The 2008 Elections

The Chinese economy will essentially collapse on itself just like the U.S.S.R. did as soon as the lower class turns emo and stops working. ...Unless the workers organize and force changes upon the corporations. That's what happened here a hundred years ago. No, China still scares me. They have the ...

Re: The 2008 Elections

That left the U.S. and the U.S.S.R. as the only world powers left, the latter of which tried to stack itself up on a big load of nothing much the same way China is doing now and collapsed on itself. Sadly, I'd have to disagree with you. The Soviets had this very bizarre concept that not having a fu...

Re: The 2008 Elections

Does the solution still lie in heirarchy, then? ... A cynic of that caliber probably wouldn't like government too much either. Yeah. I am cynical. I don't like government. Nobody does. No government and total individual freedom does sound like a good thing. The problem is that most of these politic...

Re: The 2008 Elections

No, the kind of anarchy he's talking about is not simple apathy. It's a political (and to an extent economic) theory. The problem is that it's a theory that has even less validity than Marxism. It works in theory -- but only as long as you make a whole buttload of assumptions that do not even resemb...

Re: The 2008 Elections

Yeah, interesting theory you have there, but you're making a pretty basic error in logic: You are excluding basic human nature from the equation. There can never be any vacume of political power -- ever . Somebody will always step in to fill the void if for nothing else than simple self-interested g...

Hey, dude. With all due respect, if you want to see what anarchy (in the sense of life without government) is really like, go take a look at Somalia.

Re: LHC to gamble the whole planet in 24 hours.

I think the problem is that scientists can't really agree on what is conventional theory and unconventional. I agree with Terastas that one should generally give more weight to "conventional" theories until the "unconventional" ones gain a bit more evidence in support. Now the bi...

Senario 1. Lets say a chunk off of a nearby planet, it doesn't have to be within our solar system, manages to make its way to earth. Not only that, but a good portion of it survives entering earth's atmostphere. After analysis, scientist declare there is a very valuable, new, and potentialy powerfu...

Re: Should a werewolf be able to scale walls?

Still, Howling 2 holds the record for silly werewolf powers. According to that movie, werewolves have a hive queen who shoots lightning from her hands and can, with her howls, make her enemies' eyes explode. Nah -- Werewolf: The Apocalypse has the record for silly werewolf powers. Good thing it's n...

Re: Who would take command...(Sci-fi Debate, Halo/Stargate)

As it stands, the U.S. Air Force has almost all of the military responsibilities in space. The Navy has some radar sattelites for sea surveillance and some comm birds for encrypted traffic (primarily with submarines), but that's about it as far as I know. The NSA supposedly has some assets as well, ...

We're still here! Actually, the moment it was activated, something did go horribly wrong, and the world was destroyed. Dr. Huckley, the scientist who pulled the lever, was rescued at the last second by aliens known as Vorgies, who had destroyed their own world in a similar manner by mistake. They w...

Re: Injury and Shifting

Okay, true. They didn't show the werewolves getting hit, but especially in the first scene when they're getting chased through the woods, you could hear them getting hit. Without regeneration, the handful of werewolves up against a squad of British infantry armed with MP-5 submachine guns wouldn't s...

Yes, but I think you just made my point for me. The werewolves in Dog Soldiers had regeneration. That's why they were a threat in the first place.

The best werewolf movie ever, by the way. "There was only supposed to be one!" Absolute gold. :)

Considering that everything else in the oWoD was overpowered anyways, the Garou's regeneration made sense. Their level of regeneration (were you shoot them with anything less than silver and don't headshot them they don't go down. And even then...) isn't really quite necessary in any other setting ...

I hesitate to interject myself here, but I've never understood the resistance some of the people on the board here have to the concept of a werewolf with regenerative powers. I just don't get it. It's a shapeshifter . If it can alter its very physical structure with a thought, why is it suddenly so ...
