Server downtime
As some may have noticed, the forum was completely inaccessible for about 5-6 hours today. This was due to the server that hosts The Packs Den (amongst many other websites, such as those owned by other people as well; thus "shared hosting") being dysfunctional and most likely taken down fo...

Re: No site icon? D=
Silly little me; I can't believe I hadn't thought about adding a favicon which should be relatively easy considering the simplicity of the logo (or at least the base of the logo). Just need to poke around with making a ICO or otherwise a PNG, wondering if I should even have transparency to the logo..

Re: The perfect reason to hate javascript
How do you fix javascript problems on your computer? Yahoo keeps telling me I don't have javascript enabled when I try to star questions. I've gone to Internet Options>Security and all the appropriate boxes seem to be checked. I can't add contacts, block users, or browse categories to place my ques...

Re: Most users ever online
Well consider in the first place the currently set "record" is due to spambots and/or browsers ignoring cookies which kick up a bunch of fake sessions which looks all like a bunch of users. Otherwise phpBB3 compensates for bots like Google that don't keep cookies (just by noticing their 'u...

Re: The perfect reason to hate javascript
I'm using Java's "Writer" setup. It works as well as Word, only without all the little glitches that Word likes to come up with in the middle of something you''re doing. So, Java can't be all bad... That's actually Java, not Javascript. I believe you're referring to OpenOffice.org Writer ...

Re: The perfect reason to hate javascript
All of you are thinking of Javascript in a Web 1.0 sense, where it has the most foolish nature just to make annoying images follow your cursor, or to animate text, or make "cute" little snowflakes gracefully go down the page. But Javascript has become for far more useful (AJAX, Comet, etc)...

Re: Restructure The Pack forums?
Our group still needs to decide on a final draft of the sections that will remain. That's basically the only holdback for me as well, is waiting for something to be mutually accepted upon. Otherwise I could rearrange it all, and even do a DB backup prior just in worst ever case scenario. Overall it...

Ok I read all the posts b4 me and I got in and I guess you have to pm them uhm but there was only 4 on including me. Usually I am good with chat rooms but not this one maybe I will get used to it. I just need time to be on the this site to get used to everything. It's the horribly old (+2 years old...

Hmmm. I'm wondering if someone is trying to access my account here. I logged in, minimize the screen for awhile, came back, and found that I was logged out and I had exceeded the amount of times one can log in. I didn't even log out in the first place. :? Posted a global thread about it yesterday: ...

Re: PC Virus 'Time Bomb' Set to Go Off at Any Moment
Ahh yes; *relaxes* I have Linux. :D Quite nice not having to worry about ALL of Windows malware at all. Besides, I also have basic virtualization software (just VirtualBox) and OpenBSD (only 3 vulnerabilities found in +15 years, which are obviously patched) at hand in case if the situation became dr...

Re: Is this board too strict?
The regulations are just to maintain social order. Additionally, they're guidelines , not rules . So it doesn't mean we'll just come after you and just randomly maul you with a baseball bat if you don't abide, it just means we discourage such things to occur. And by disobeying such guidelines that y...

Re: Dragcave.net: Malicious Site?
I checked which Javascript files were being loaded via Firebug. Apparently there's an external script on edge.quantserve.com which hosts potentially malicious advertisements (although I use Adblock Plus for Firefox, yay Adblock Plus). I checked the WOT rating (yay WOT for Firefox), and it has a very...

Re: Pruning the number of Emotes
It's possible, I've seen some amazing things done with phpBB, and it's still one of the most modifiable boards out there, despite what claims to plugins other boards might have. I'll do a little hunting around and see if I can find anything specific that's free. if not, it'll just be a matter of fi...

Heh, I'm actually sick right now. I have a very hoarse voice , thus can barely speak. My brother's wife thinks I may even have Laryngitis (if I remember correctly). Apparently I got sick right on the first day of my Thanksgiving break, and am still sick yet. Last short break I had, I was sick with s...

Man! Why is it that I always find out about things on here so long after they're posted? I was wondering if there would ever be a chat room here! It's actually a bit incomplete, hence why it hasn't been widely publicized yet. There's a lot more in plan for it (better customized web-based IRC...

There is a section that lists the moderators and administrators of the forum. Right in the "Who's online" section on the bottom of the main page (legend). Otherwise I'm actually a full admin; the "admin" and "moderator" rank is just a custom rank that is manually applie...

Re: Just what does that big old Moon do, anyhow?
My personal view on the affects of the moon are mainly along the lines of the moon not having some mystical force or whatever as typical myth portrays. I just view it whereas the moon just makes it more tempting to shift. Otherwise I do agree with your statement in regards of vision as I don't reall...

More moderators needed?
Personally I think we need a few more moderators. We have less than half the moderators/administrators than we used to have. Figarou used to be an administrator about a year or so ago, but stepped down from the position after becoming very busy. LoboLEO disappeared and I'm not sure how active he was...

No, it lasted for just 4 days. We obviously have sufficient money to pay for it, but Anthony is the one that owns it. The hosting is just a mere $9/month plan (that's like the price of going to a cheap restaurant by yourself each month). Otherwise please read other topics before starting a topic tha...
