Re: Why do Humans Hunt?

I think what Red-Eye was trying to say was that most people know about the existence of ranching, range-grazing, factory farms and feedlots — but they shy away from the fact that they exist, and exist to feed them. And perversely, continue to pay for and consume what they oh-so-distastefully produce...

Re: Why do Humans Hunt?

Eco-anarchists are young, urban, often college-educated (if not -graduated) but sometimes not even that, and politically far-left. (For the record, I'm centre-left). And usually, white. [thinking] I guess you could call them hicks, they're urban hicks in the sense of "dangerous jerks." The...

Re: Why do Humans Hunt?

Ink pretty much hit the nail on the head, multiple times. I'll weigh in anyway. It's been awhile since I've gone hunting. I primarily hunt for meat and the last time I went, I got a bison bull — big guy, yielded 1200 pounds of meat after dressing out. That took about five years to go through, even s...

Re: 2009 Full Moons

I have the Mac widget "Orrery II," which shows the position of the planets like on an astrological chart. It lets me see not just the moon phase but what sign it's in.

Re: Little Dragon Menagerie...

I couldn't find "halo" but I did find "golden-horned." It is: "Gull-Hyrndr." Not exactly the same but a close approximation. I have a few Norse-named dragons too, mostly my Storm females (aka, the Storm Furies). There's Myrkr-kelda ("Fountain of Darkness"), he...

Re: Little Dragon Menagerie...

Whooh! Weredragon! Got yourself scroll-locked! :D I clicked all of 'em. So how'd everyone weather the last Lagmonster attack? I didn't lose anything on my scroll but a couple of my dragons' progeny languished to death in the AP, unfortunately :( Good to be back, though. I joined three breeding proje...

Re: Pack Alpha Help. (No problem with this pack, please read!!!)

From what I've noticed, in a pack, males and females have separate hierarchies. For example — in nature, it's the female that drives the mating game. The male only approaches by her consent, else he's sorry. "If there's a beast in men, it meets its match in women." (Which is why I consider...

Re: Lycanthropy treated in a positive light - not a curse

There's another trend in media that concerns me. When I was living in California, my World of Darkness troupe had a main storyteller whose thing was Mage, and he had a somewhat antagonistic view of Werewolves. He portrayed them as big, bumbling twerps with an anger problem. That stuck in my craw and...

Re: What places truly relax you ?

I have a local day spa I go to every couple of months or so. Yeah, yeah, I know, paying to relax, how consumerist. But masseurs pay about $25,000 to get trained and certified and they need to make that back, too. It's true that I collect essential oils and suchlike, and I massage my poor ittwe wolf ...

Well, surprise, I'm gonna be in Dallas/Ft. Worth at the IALHA Nationals when this thing opens.

Anyone in Ft. Worth? Want to convene a fleshmeet/view contingent?

Re: Anger issues

Last weekend I went out to the country to check out a Moriesian gelding. I'm in the market for a second horse and I heard about this guy, so I went. His family were lovely folks. Young family, two children: 8-year-old girl, 4-year-old boy. The father took the little boy for a ride to the market whil...

Re: Little Dragon Menagerie...

http://dragcave.net/image/vjHF.gif Not sure what this guy is going to be. Not supposed to tell but eh! Screw it. That's a Skywing. Comes out of the egg with wings, gets a second pair when it genders, and adults into one of the more (IMO) beautiful sprites. Sometimes I think the DC mods specifically...

Re: Little Dragon Menagerie...

Coolness. Yeah, I got bitten by the Giving Tree bug too. I'm gonna start breeding Storms and Winters for people. If Kitalphar genders male and I get a male Skywing or Storm for Blarloga, I'll do Waters and Skywings, too. Myrkr-kelda and An-Nasl have bred pretty consistently, alternating between Stor...
