Also, when you think about it, if just so much as one werewolf goes on the rampage, that would provoke a monster hunt that would get them all killed, so any werewolves that are still alive today would have survived by being selective in who they bite. That's how the virus would stay regional. The v...

Those are very sagely words, Terastas.
I agree that, if a fan (or group of fans) doesn't bother to join, we shouldn't worry about their potential input.

Re: Methods of infection.

So next thing.. What makes you a werewolf.. some like genetics, some like the bite.. and if you're bitten and the next full moon you become a werewolf.. what happens if you're bitten DURING a full moon, under it.. would you change then? One of the students in my anthropology class did an ethnograph...

The correct scientific terminalogy of a werewolf virus, should probably stick to the forum on. I'm still of the opinion that the werewolves wouldn't have the resources to figure out what exactly makes them tick. So I imagine that werewolves argue this subject quite a lot.. Hmmmm... Lycavirus ? And ...

Some viruses don't need to kill/rupture/lyse their host cell in order to release the new viruses, they can simply cause the host cell to bud them off.

I wouldn't recommend doing that.
Do you have any idea about how hard house-keeping becomes when not only do your pets shed everywhere around the house, but you, too?

Not all viruses kill their hosts. Not all diseases kill their hosts, either. It depends on the virulence of the disease, on whether or not the host is killed. In some cases, the cell continues to live while it continues to produce and bud off more infectious viruses. "Retrovirus" is a viru...

Still, I rather like "Wolfkin." You could also call us "Lunatics" - note the capital L. "Mooninites" would be fun, but I think Adult Swim might object. How about you just call us, "Duckies"? Then people can get really confused! I like "Lunatics" als...

Depending on how large the tail is, the child may have had his tail surgically removed soon after birth. Sometimes the parents don't opt for surgery, though.
From what I've been told, the tails are always very small, and sometimes curls, like a pig's tail.

Open doors. Talk. Count to ten without resorting to toes. Humans can eat chocolate - big advantage! The other big human advantage is the ability to talk. Body language can say a lot, as we've discussed in another forum topic, but it can't get across, "Hey, we really need to get the blonde girl...

I don't want the werewolf to look like a Wookie... A werewolf without a muzzle is just as aesthetically unappealing as a werewolf without a tail, if not moreso. Also, I think that a wolf's fur would be an adequete guidline for a werewolf's fur. Also, we don't want a werewolf so shaggy it looks like ...

While some viral diseases do have asymptomatic but infectious stages, the idea of a guy infecting people with lycanthropy before he manifests symptoms himself doesn't really sit well with me. But then again, I do like the other parts of your idea, WolvenOne. Some virii have a dormant stage, or "...

Yup, I'm all for tails. However, I'm with Figarou on this one. How can it just "retract"? I mean, what happens to all that flesh, nerves, veins, muscle...etc? The most logical thing I can think of is that it simply falls off! The tailbone is fused again and the tail kinda dies and falls a...

I posted something similar in another thread, but it seems appropriate here too. Some people can act as a host for certain viruses while not actually suffering any effects of the virus. If the majority of the human population “could” be carriers and not become werewolves themselves, it would help e...

I don't think of werewolfism as a disease, or a curse, but maybe some type of one celled virus that mutated inside of a normal wolf in ages past. The virus took some of the wolf's genes, and was then passed to a human by biting. The virus integrated itself into the human's DNA and thus made the vir...

I believe that it has been,(almost), universally agreed upon that the Werewolves in this movie should be shown as not inherantly evil or bloodthirsty. However, I feel it is very important that we also get a very clear example of what a person is capable of with the instincts and body of a full carn...
