One thind that doesnt seem to have come up is the advantage in range that a firearm user has. A lot has been said about if the hunter misses he/she is dead meat. I beg to differ. A person who is a fair shot can keep most of their shots on a paper-plate (about 9" dia) out to about 200-250 yards....

Plaster wont survive the heat needed to powdercoat something, so thats out. The temperature to clay-fire something is very close, if not slightly higher than the temperature needed for coating, but I dont think the duration is long enough. Depending on what it is made out of to begin with, you may be able to powdercoat it. Powdercoating is tough and really durable (A friend of mine had his Jeeps frame done- you can whack it with a hammer and it wont chip!) and there are do-it-yourself kits so you can do it at home. Depends on the situation. Metal if its a action-sequence, something smooth if it is going to be a "calm" scene. It has to have the same mood of the scene, and to help set up and support it.
