Re: chance to be a werewolf. would you do it?

As for "Redemption", if you felt the need to be "Redeemed" in the religious sense, then Lycanthropy as a lifestyle is not for you. Whoops. That's not exactly what I meant. I'd just finished going back over an old thread about old werewolf legends and how the Catholic church sort...

Re:

Opening up the Alaskan wildlife for drilling might fix today's problem, but it will destroy FOREVER vast tracts of land and wildlife. That's not even the worst part. This whole ANWR thing is so sleazy. Even the most optimistic estimates for ANWR have it peaking way below the rest of North Slope in ...

Re: chance to be a werewolf. would you do it?

The reality is, believing in the fantastic is always better than facing the "real" world. I don't think there is a person here or anywhere that wouldn't want to step out of their skin and be somebody else or something else. Wow, I really do wish I had something that profound to say in res...

Hey, you would probably know this. Supposedly there is a region in Germany in which the werewolf's famous weakness isn't silver, but instead is iron (or maybe cold iron). I remember reading something like that a while back. Isn't there a legend about that somewhere in western Germany, like in the Bl...

Don't laugh. California has become progressively more divided politically. More to the point, in our state, the political divide has been along geographic lines. There's been serious talk in some circles of the northern crescent seceeding from the rest of the state and forming the 51st state of Nort...

I like the idea of the shift happening in the mid to late teens. Purely as dramatic effect or a plot tool. The change can be somewhat metaphorical for the physical and emotional changes that are happening to your average teen. It also works for a whole spectrum of werewolf stories: for the "nic...

Vote No on 90 Vote yes on 87 I totally agree on both counts, but especially on 90. Although I HATE seeing blatant abuse of emminent domain like what happened in New London, CT, it's already hard enough to get anything built here as it is. In 1989 when the I-880 Nimitz Freeway Cypress structure coll...

Keep in mind, one of the areas directly bordering Griffith Park is the strangely named Universal City (which is actually an unincorporated plot of land between sections owned by Los Angeles and Burbank). Universal City is home to Universal Studios, so who knows. In World of Darkness, there's a hive ...

Just watch. I'd bet good money that FAA will bow to public pressure to add all kinds of new airspace restrictions. Never mind that if a terrorist really wanted to load up a plane with explosives and run it into the UN headquarters or something, no space restriction in the world would allow enough ti...

I agree that there is no real substitute for the theater. I just hate being blatantly exploited for money, with the assumption that I'm some kind of moron who will keep paying whatever they feel like charging -- just because. It detracts from the whole experience for me. Unless the movie is really r...

I think you're getting your information from those crazy web-ads. There's a few rather disreputable organizations marketing "myostatin-blocker" dietary supplements. They base their claims on some preliminary research that myostatin deficiency is correllated with unusually extensive muscle ...

The movie industry would get a huge boost to profits if the actual theaters wouldn't jack up the price of popcorn and drinks (or at least not be so obnoxious about bringing in your own foodstuffs). That's the primary reason I won't go to theaters anymore. Everything there is a total rip-off, and the...

Actually, there is only a proven correllation between myostatin deficiency and muscle growth. Nobody has been able to prove it as being a cause, nor do they know exactly why the correlation exists. The only lab tests done so far have been very preliminary and were restricted only to rodents.
