Re: If I was John McCain

Yeah, I'd have to agree. I've been wanting to vote for McCain for years (I really wanted him to win back in 2000, but he crashed and burned during the primary). I'm a regestered Republican, but I've never been able to stomach any of the candidates the party has nominated. The lunatic asylum wing of ...

Re: Alameda Sheriff Investigates Suspected Werewolf Attack

Y'know that's a good question. Blood is a biohazardous material, so I would think that it would have to be disposed of in some way that's regulated by various authorities. Considering how expensive that probably is, I'd bet they would sell the stuff for the cost of the barrel and nothing else. Heck,...

Re: Hurricane Gustav

So far it hasn't been. The Federals got the repairs done in time, barely. The only screw up was that there was some overtopping* where it wasn't expected. *literally where waves go over the tops of the barriers. They thought they were high enough. Yeah, that's another thing: The video CNN has been ...

Re: Hurricane Gustav

... Is it just an urban legend, or "a good story", or was there actually an American President who had a sign on his desk saying "The buck stops here"? Indeed there was. President Harry Truman. 33rd president, (1945-1953). Democrat, Missouri. The only U.S. president to authorize...

Re: Hurricane Gustav

It's state and local government's job to ensure that levies and are in good condition, not the federal governments. In many places that is so (such as most of the Sacrament River Delta here in California), and in terms of total levee mileage in southern Louisiana that is probably mostly true, but a...

Re: In entertainment, animal characters appeal to us because...

I blame Walt Disney and his cartoon "Steamboat Willie". It starred Mickey Mouse. It was also the first sound cartoon. Anywhere. That, I believe, got things going. Why blame? The "cute" anthro phenemenon which got started with Walt Disney Studios was revolutionary in at least one...

Alameda Sheriff Investigates Suspected Werewolf Attack

SPOILER ALERT: This isn't what it sounds like, but I'm vaguely curious to see how many people click here after reading the post subject line. Anywho... I was taking a criminal forensics class and the professor teaching it is one of the higher-ups at the Alameda County (California) Sheriff Department...

Re: chance to be a werewolf. would you do it?

Absolutely. I agree it could go any way. I also agree that most likely, if somebody saw a real werewolf, they'd probably be too frightened to come forward for fear of retaliation. If they did come forward, nobody would believe them. Additionally, they probably wouldn't be in any position to do anyth...

Re: Should a werewolf be able to scale walls?

I saw the most bizarre thing on Animal Planet (I think). There was this show about neat pet tricks. There was this dog (it was an Aussie Shepherd, I think) that could go over eight foot walls like they weren't there. This dog would get maybe ten feet of a running (loping) start... and he wasn't even...

Re: Werewolf Shapeshifting through Magick. What do you think?

I think magic and werewolves (in the same story at least) isn't a big problem as long as the magic side of the equation doesn't get overdone. In my opinion, magic as the explaination for a werewolf's powers make a certain amount of sense. People throwing fireballs and shooting lightning does not (or...

Yeah, I just got back from "A" school at Lackland Air Force Base a couple of months ago, which is why I've been gone forever. Not that I post much anyway. I'm taking an extended holiday while the hiking in the mountains is still good, though I'm sure something will come up and six months l...

Re: chance to be a werewolf. would you do it?

I believe you missed this point. Even if there were more werewolves in a forest than squirrels, just staying out of sight for a week or so would get the Sheriff interested in other things. Especially if the Sheriff were one of those Werewolves... (that is a very Alpha position, y'know) Tee-h...

Re: How does a werewolf wash their hands?

Hey, an interesting thought just occurred to me. Human shampoo and dog shampoo is chemically different, and for a reason. The Ph composition of a dog's skin is different than that of a human's. Hence, the two different formulas. Now it won't kill a dog to put human shampoo on it, nor will it harm a ...

So, any LA area werewolf fans need a roommate? My only requirements are... No A-holes. I like NICE people. No drug users ( or heavy drinkers or smokers ) No LOUD people. No super-slobs No super-furry furries ( regular furries, sure no prob ) Someone who respects my privacy. Well jeez, if you're goi...

Re: chance to be a werewolf. would you do it?

Five thou Wulfen could make such a hash of sightings that any Smoothskins who saw them would be thought of as "special", in the bad way. Seeing the same Wulf in five places makes things a lot more believable than seeing, say, five Wulfen in one place; drinking beer. With five thou. Wulfen...

Re: chance to be a werewolf. would you do it?

With the new technologies (making hybrids and etc) today do you think that in the near future will be able to create a werewolf ? I think that is interesting for the scientists , to merge a human and animal in one creature ! Could science reach the point at which it would be possible to create a hu...

Hell will freeze over before the average American would get that much exercise in a day. True, sadly. Anyway, if and when I ever get the resources together to pull it off, here's my little plan to reduce my energy dependency: If I ever get a house, fill every square foot of roof space with PV panel...

Re: It's time to drill for oil....NOW!!!

Yeah, but what's the alternative? Put it another way: What do you mean by "introducing power generating mechanisms"? Unless you're talking about wind or PV, then you're basically stuck with a diesel (or maybe natural gas) generator. All that does is substitute one problem for a whole set o...

Re: It's time to drill for oil....NOW!!!

It isn't that we are too dependent on energy - it's that we depend on a enormous amount of infrastructure. A political parable might be we're communist when it comes to energy. What needs to take place is more privatisation. By localizing energy suppliers and energy users, facilities would need to ...
