What would a gestalt WW look like if as a human they had a beard? I dont mean short lil hair growth. I'm talkin about if Santa Clause, Grizzly Adams or Gandalf were werewolves.
A gestalt with a beard would look more than a little silly imho...

The look on Gandalf's face in that scene <b>SO</b> said "Righteously Wrathful Werewolf" to me. Perfect visual benchmark. I wouldn't be in the least surprised if Gandalf did turn out to be a WW, he's wise but he still has a fire down below.
I think a beard would work, merging into the throat part of the mane. Muttonchops too, if that doesn't stray too close to Wolverine.
The skin that is a humans chin would become the underside of the muzzle and part of the neck. They would be extra fuzzy on the neck I suppose.
Like excessively long head hair, I think this would be something that experienced werewolves would avoid when they could by keeping beards trimmed back.

Evil ALWAYS has a goatee.
Not only that, it'll be easy to identify the person if the goatee has a spot of hair color different from the rest.
For example....
You have a black goatee with a small patch of white hair just to the right of the chin in all 3 forms.
You better hope the people that knows you as a human doesn't recognize who you are by looking at your goatee when you are in gestalt form. (Thats if they don't know you are a werewolf.)

i think if a werewolf had a full blown hobo beard, then i tihnk during a TF sequence it would just murge into the fur around the face and the head, the resulting gestalt form would prohaply just look a helluva lot scruffyer and tangly then most others
Same as hair on the top of the head, I suppose. Then again, if you like werewolves with long human hair (and, aesthetically, I do), beards physiologically are different enough that they don't both have to be long.
I figure that hair length to some degree can be learned, depending on how slowly or quickly one shifts. I picture it being harder for a werewolf who shifts frequently to grow a long beard than a non-werewolf.
Taking a Gestalt approach, since it's the "in" thing...
Back on topic, if anyone had hair of a certain length anywhere on their body, it would probably be evident in there werewolf form. I just can't picture someone growing fur all over his body while the hair he already had becomes shorter.
In that case, shoulder-length hair and santa beards might cross over into the werewolf form, in which case they would be discouraged by the rest of the pack because they could be indicative of lycanthropy while in full wolf form and potentially betray the werewolf's identity in any form. In other words, it's something a werewolf could do, but should not do.
