Can a werewolf be tamed by a the one they truly love?

Post by Black Claw »

I'm actually making a book over that question dealing with a man who hides the secret of being a werewolf from his girlfriend. She later finds out and we will see if he can tame him without being attacked by him, but i think you can be tamed and have human like feelings for that one person. :howl: :oo

hmm good question, is this book going south? or are you going to keep it a book for many ages can enjoy (that is is it going to be a raunchy romance book or a love story)

Yes. And no. Both can be true. You can even write about flying werewolves if you wish, hehehe.

Yes.

(I know, you were expecting a long-winded dissertation on the nature of love either as an evolutionary result of mating and nurturing instincts or as a divine phenomenon underlying the core architecture of super-space-time, but, "yes" will suffice.)

Rule One (well, One Rule Of at least) relationships: Don't pick a partner with the idea that you can try to change them: It won't work for a hoomin, and I doubt it would for a werewolf. If he's so lacking in control that his wolf is a raving, insane, bloodthirsty thing driven to attack people at random by his socially programmed subconscious stereotypes of what a wolf is like, she'll be meat by morning. :pizza:

Of course, this assumes you're like me and assume that all the "bad rap" for rapacious werewolves is entirely due to their screwed up human side, and the humans just blame the wolf side so they don't have to feel ashamed of themselves despite what they're already planning over in Idaho/Montana/Wyoming now that wolves are delisted from the ESA.

I don't know if emotional involvement could TAME a Werewolf, but it would be a common ground for both parties to work from.

The lady in the book had better be ready for the Fuzzy side of life, though.

That's absolutely true: It's nearly impossible for someone else to intentionally change another human being. The best you can do is bully and/or trick someone into presenting the appearance of a changed man, but no matter what, the person they once were is still under the presentation they give you.

What I would add, however, is that people are capable of bettering themselves, at least if given the proper motivation. What I would therefore argue is that, while she could possibly act as an incentive for him to control his primal side, or possibly offer some insight into the nature of it, she could not literally tame him. It would be solely up to the werewolf himself to control himself.

I also wouldn't recommend her taming the werewolf because. . . Well, there's no easier way to say it: It's lame and cliche. :P You really would be better off downplaying the romance and opting for a more rational and/or cerebral approach.

Hmmm... Thinks about the idea and turns it on its head somewhat. If the one who truly loved me was a werewolf... why would I want to "tame" her? What a waste of an opportunity that would be. I'd rather run with her, watch her back, basically, be with her.

Yeah, I know that's probably no answer to your question though...

I would think yes, if he truly loves her. but, to make it interesting maybe make it a struggle? that's what I love when I read those kind of books, makes it a page turner, you know what I mean?

That's one of the things i'm going to put in my book, my character has a struggle dealing with his girlfriend and hiding his secret from her and that just makes the shift harder for him to adjust to. :howl: :oo

Werewolf of London- "The werewolf instinctively kills that which it loves best."
Curse of the Werewolf- The protagonist stays off his transformatoin because the woman he loves stays with him, in a calming and soothing manner, all night.
So either way. Hope those help.
Ansuru- I agree. Wolf or man, the responsability of our actions lies within. There are stories of werewolves beign helpful top lost travelers and sailors alike.
But how do you feel about the ideas presented by The Wolfman and Werewolf of London? They show a good person becoming a monster. Especially The Wolfman with it's line "Even a man who is pure at heart and says his prayers by night...".
Whoever is bitten by a werewolf and lives becomes a werewolf himself.

I think a common feeling around these parts is that the "good person becomes an evil monster" theme in The Wolfman is interesting, and it has a lot of storytelling dynamic, but it's been overdone. Many people here would like to see a theme of, "good person becomes a good monster" and "evil person becomes and evil monster."

Like i said before either here or in another topic, i think it depends on heart, mood or feelings for him to become evil or good. :howl: :oo

How come my topics don't get as many responses as some of the others? :howl: :oo

Don't worry... huge quantities of responses to a topic generally indicate that the discussion has gone well off the rails and the original topic has more or less been lost. As it is you've got a decent bunch of responses (and hopefully a couple of interesting ideas you can use).
