These tales, collected during the XVIIth and XVIIIth century, give a wonderful insight into Middle Kingdom's mythology and culture. It's a reading I strongly recommend. What will attract most attention will probably be stories about Huli jing - the fox spirits.

Said Fox Spirits crossed the Japan Sea and became Kitsunes, I believe; and changed their natures only a little bit. They became Messengers and Servants of Inari-Sustainer, the God(ess) of rice. They still pilfered, though.
The stories are a bit heavy going, although quite interesting.
Good reference...but how does this refer to Werewolves?

It doesn't refer to Werewolves as such, but I hoped that other shapechanging animals are also within the scope of The Pack's interest.
