Right now it's the time of year when people are likely increasingly busy with school and work....it happens every year, the pack bounces back.

Like Howlitzer says, our posting levels rise and fall over the year. Yes; now there are fewer posts and those posts are shorter. Wait a while. Once people have their schedules set or hit summer time our post numbers will rise again.

I'm in the same boat as Scott: I drop by here at least once or twice a day, but I don't always feel compelled to step into a conversation and announce my presence. I do not consider inactivity to necessarily be a bad thing.

Perhaps it is time. The forum stands at a crossroads, to which it can not choose its own path. If the movie stays alive, so will the forum. However, the opposite is also true. Now, all one can do is stand by and watch as life goes on.

However, we have yet to see our original purpose served--that is, to have a really good werewolf movie made, that gets it right. We have several vaporware projects--Freeborn, Camp Lycanthrope, and Hour of Darkness, each struggling their way through pre-production limbo. But, I will squat here, keeping The Pack alive if I have to be the only one posting, until there are no servers left on an uninhabitable planet, or there is a decent werewolf movie in the theater. If blue cat-people on a moon can have a top-notch movie, then so can werewolves!

While this may be true in the broad sense; Avatar dealt with a new species that had no history behind it. Werewolves, very regrettably, have whole libraries of history behind them, and that is going to make the sale of a good story about the children of the wolf a dozen times harder than selling Avatar to the studios.
Yet if nobody tries, it's certain that it won't happen; so The Pack will continue to solidify and refine Werewolves until a decent motion picture is made about them.
And that isn't likely to happen very soon, methinks.

I don't think so. In the long run a good story is a good story, even if it has werewolves. If Hollywood deams that it can make money from it, they will make it. The biggest problem with werewolves isn't the fact that they have a massive collection of histories and mythologies, it is the sad fact that those mythologies and histories are seldom used.

If Stephanie Meyer could make her vampires sparkle and still have a hit, I think Anthony, Matt or anyone else her could take some creative liberties with werewolves and produce a hit too.

One of the problems with out take on Freeoborn is that we're talking about a story that is at least five years old. Things change, and my own experience with trying to sell Wulfen Blood has taught me that when you are weaving fantasy into a real life background, you have to keep changing things to keep the story current.
If AB has updated Freeborn it will be a lot more salable to investors than the original script, even though that script takes werewolves in directions nobody else has tried (at least for motion picture release).
So, yeah; why not make the People in Freeborn a little sparkly. If it sells the thing to the investors, the rest of us can live with it.

And no, the Pack isn't fading away. It always gets quiet during the winter and comes to life during the summer...and the summer is just starting.
(And a lot of old timers here had their first year in college and discovered that even pointless classes require homework; making their time with the Pack a restricted thing. They'll be back.)

Either that or put a very specific date on it. I know what you mean though -- when I started writing Inhuman, the New Orleans werewolves were still referred to as refugees. Now that I'm almost finished with it, the N.O. pack is instead being asked if they're serious about ever going back.

I don't remember there being too much in the Freeborn script to date it that much though, and even if it was, it's from a past tense narrative anyway. People would frown on Brownrigg for writing with a 90s mentality, but not for having it set in that time period.

Something else that might be worth noting is that the last time anyone complained about Pack activity (or lack thereof), it was after the Freeborn trailer had just come out and the Pack became swamped with new registries that just signed up to try and mooch pendants, auditions and/or publicity off of the project. But Freeborn stayed on the shelf and all of the moochers moved on. Now the Pack is quiet again.

Personally, I prefer the quiet pack to the one that was home to hundreds of "here's my 20 cents now let me audition" posters (I remember one in particular that asked Brownrigg to film the movie in Norway because he didn't have a passport). It's less active, but more productive I think.

Well, I'm creating my own small webshow, it's called the Society and it's being written and I'll hopefully be castin soon, but it's basically like a teen version of True Blood.

You can read the details as well as characters, I play Raven Caine: raveseye.wordpress.com

Yes it is fading away. There really is no more purpose to this website if you think about it. it was created to raise awareness for Freeborn. Freeborn will never get made. So there you go.

I have only been here for seven months, so I wasn't exactly here through it all, but. . .

I agree with Scott. If Freeborn or HOD don't end up getting made, then I will stay here until I die, the world dies, or a good werewolf movie hits the cinema. I am a very patient person.

But, who says that this site has to be just about the movies? Sure, that's how it started, but it's seemed to have taken its own form. Now, look at it. Upon entering, any newcomer would have no idea this was originally about a movie. I sure didn't. When I found the information about said movies, I was ballyhooing all over the place. But, I still loved the site for the simple fact that it allowed me a place to see a better werewolf that I could use in my books.

Maybe I'm just too naive, but I don't think this place will ever fade. It's just about the only place that has people talking about werewolves, without the people being crazy or awkward to talk to.

And, I do come here two or three times a day, and when someone's replied to one of my posts I'll normally reply. As many can see, I currently don't have much of a life. Everyone that I normally hang out with is out of state (yes, every single one of those b******* at the same time), so I've been whittling away the hours with anything I can. I do enjoy the conversations I have with the people on here, but the conversations normally don't last long.

What always has to be understood about movie making and Hollywood in general is that it takes time to get a movie made. Guardians of Luna is a perfect example, and yet despite the uphill battle, my friend kept fighting and guess what... Next fall there will be werewolves! He's been casting and everything...

With "Hour of Darkness" it is a very expensive property. I'm not just talking about werewolf effects. It's a massive story with massive sets and so on and so forth. While my newer versions are a bit less pricey than some of the older ones, you're still looking at a project that could cost anywhere between $80 to $100 mil. Granted it'll make a ton of money, but still no studio is going to just jump out there to produce it, unless I have a bit of clout myself. I ain't James Cameron. So that is what I'm trying to do now... build up clout. I'm writing smaller projects as well as drafting out a novel version of HOD, using all of my resources. I believe it will happen... just gotta be patient.

I don't post here as much as I used to, because I'm really busy. Been busy with Luna stuff, HOD stuff, and life stuff... :)

Traffic on The Pack is definitely down from the old days. I'm just as guilty; this is my second trip back since the new format and host, and since maybe February or March. But, once a werewolf, always a werewolf; it doesn't go away when you're in human form.

A heck of a lot of teenage boy fans. Though I don't know how much that accounts for. Maybe Freeborn should be made into a video game instead.
