I need a really nice Duckie

Post by Baphnedia »

If one of the arteests out there could make a really nice duckie - it's for a Pack project that I'm working on, as of today! It'll be about a year before it's done (mostly because I need to save up money for it). A really nice duckie. Drawn, probably no larger than 3x4" (in as high of a resolution as practicible).

Oh, and I will also need the arteest's permission to use it for the project. Otherwise, I think I have everything else ready to go. Except for the money part.

Damn, I've been gone for so long, and the joke about rubber duckies still isn't over? Maybe if someone made a joke about rubber penisses, then we'll make a logo out of that and add it to the forum...

Somehow I doubt that idea will catch on.

Regarding the Duckies, blame Figarou.

He started it, and it took off on its own. For some reason, it seems to work very well around here...

I don't blame anyone for making a joke, but making the same joke for years is a bit... juvenile.

Tradition is important, and it gives the community a unique flair, something to distinguish us from everyone else. Sure, it's a rubber duck, not exactly the Demon Core, but it's better than nothing.

I think it's the contrast that makes it stick.
Here we are, obsessing over werewolves, which, unless something goes horribly wrong in the minds of people, will always look somewhat scary(fangs, claws, eyes, etc.).
Then we introduce this cute looking duck to the mix, it makes it own statement, that is, we are all out of our minds.
We do not stop being children when we learn of death, we stop being children when we make peace with it.

Now there is a line that even I would never dare cross...

(In other words, that's not cool. Edit it before Baph sees it, because if he did... well, it wouldn't be fair to hold him responsible for what he might do, considering.)

Why? Is it a forbidden word? Its completely normal and I can't see any reason why its so forbidden.

Look it up in the dictionary.

Strangely enough, not everyone's sense of humor encompasses bestiality. Who knew?

There may be many furries here, but I highly doubt many of them take bestiality lightheartedly. In many ways it's the same as making pedophilia jokes to priests, and then wondering why they don't laugh.

Unless its written somewhere in the rules, I don't care.

Your example is a bit mindboggling to me. How does rapist pedophelia priests compare to people who just prefer a completely different sex? Seems kinda discriminating to me. By saying that people take offence by the term bestiality you are basically calling all people who have a affection to animals in that way rapists. I know it can be a 'taboo', but its the same as gay people really when you think about it.

Care to explain?

An animal can't give consent, while a gay relationship between two adults is mutual. I suggest we get back on topic.

So you do see them as rapists.

Ok.

Yeah, like about this project that I still have no ducky for!

Oh, and just mentioning bestiality isn't a line I wouldn't cross (I've probably crossed that line on these forums myself)... to clarify, if someone inferred that they did something gross (excrement-type-eww) to someone else, or inferred bestial acts (like a werewolf trying to rape a dragon - which a couple of Pack members tried with me in IRC long, long ago on a server far, far away*), then it's crossing a line.

* At least three timezones. I hope!

So, where is this ducky?

Oh, I guess I'm being overprotective, then. Sorry Morkulv.

It's just that in my time I've known more than a few furries and having been part of the fandom one never really leaves, a lot of the furs I've encountered don't like a link between them and bestiality.

The reason for this is because the creature a furry is into (much like the creature a were-fan or an otherkin is into) is able to convey their desires without room for doubt. However, many would posit this isn't true of an animal (barring fully adult humans, of course), they can convey their desire but the gap of doubt is too large, and if you happen to be wrong then you've just committed rape.

Therefore, implying that a furry is into bestiality is also implying that they'd rape the kind of creature they idolise, and to a degree even worship. So it can be a hurtful topic to cover, depending on how each individual views the topic.

TL;DR: Bestiality isn't a cut and dry thing, it isn't just sex with animals, it can imply non-consensual sex (a.k.a.: rape), and if that is the case then rape of any animal (including us) isn't something to joke about. Hence my reaction.

I just thought I should explain myself, anyway.
