Red Riding Hood (2011)

Post by Alpha »

Has anyone else here seen this movie yet? I saw it today and the werewolf in it isn't quite what I was expecting. Without giving away too much, just let me say that this movie is not exactly what I'd call cinematic greatness. It is passable fare though...... if you have some time to waste.

I went to see it last night. I had nothing better to do. It wasn't as bad as Twilight.
I thought the werewolf wasn't that bad.

I got a good laugh tho. one part scared the crap out of a group of girls behind me  so it was worth it to me

It's kinda funny that you should mention Twilight, cause that's exactly what came to my mind when I saw the werewolf. I just wished that they would of been a little more original with the creature.

I was pretty impressed with this one. It was better than expected, though I'm used to not expecting much. There has actually been several decent werewolf movies here and there.

I think that it was ok too. Much better than expected, since my expectations were not too good. But it was a pretty solid movie, which could be watched without getting mad or something. The shots of the landscape were also really nice and impressive and they played a lot with color schemes, which was nice too. Even though I think that it's hard to say something to the movie in general. It was completely different than expected. It was not the original Red-riding-hood-story but some kind of mixture of this old fairytale and the "new werewolf"-fandom. The character interaction was not bad at all too. You could almost see why those people in the village acted, like they acted, even if the were one or two logical misstakes in it. Long story short, I think that it was ok, since they reduced the twilight-drama-"Oh I am such a monster"-level to a minimum, had some nice pictures to show, made some interesting plot-twists and a slight piece of action.

Pretty much the same for me: Totally exceeded my expectations, which were not terribly high to begin with. I will say this, though: I liked the werewolf creature effects. They made the thing look like a werewolf generally ought to, not some Underworld-esque slimy were-pig (or whatever those things in Underworld were).

I see what you mean. The wolf was done better, that I could have been. It was not perfect and I was not sure at first, if I should like it or not...but as I have said, it could have been far worse. It even had a tail....so some bonus-points

I actually liked it. It was more of a murder mystery w/a werewolf in it. The clues weren't obvious. The idea of a blood link between a werewolf and it's human child seemed awesome to me. The idea that the "strength" increased with each successive generation of "relations turned wolf" was fascinating. The take on a historic setting or three was a nice touch. A bit of a rip off if you know what to look for in the main plot arc.

At the least I'd rate it up there with some of my personal favorites.

You know, that's a good point. It wasn't really a werewolf movie, per se. It was a murder / mystery -- which just happened to have a werewolf in it. Now that I think about it, some of the better werewolves, were in movies that only tangentially involved werewolves. I'm looking at Shadow Wulf's video file and thinking about Van Helsing. That was another pretty good one (the werewolf, that is -- the rest of the movie was sort of lame). What is it with Hollywood at large, that subliminally insists that (pure) werewolf movies need to be so crapulent?

Werewolves = creature feature to Hollywood. I suppose. :/

I've notice, although I could be wrong, that Hollywood = big money. Where the money is successful, that's where they'd reinvest. They don't often like to take chances. Anthony took a huge chance with the pack, and as far as investment vs profit goes, the effort hasn't ( to my knowledge) produced anything financially concrete -/to this point/.

Yup. I've seen it and enjoyed it myself. Makes me wonder if there's going to be a sequel. I'm looking forward to it.
