The Pack Chatroom is up and running! No downloads or extra equipment required. Just login and start chatting.

Official Chat Room - Hosted by ABrownrigg
Alternate Chat Room - Hosted by Kaebora

Brownrigg has estabolished a new chatroom program for the participants of The Pack Forum. It is a 100% safe way to chat with your fellow Pack members. Both the old and new chatrooms are self explanatory in how to use. If you can use a web browser, you can use these chatrooms with no problems.

Please READ! How to guarantee you'll see someone online:
When visiting the forum, log into the chat and place the chat window alongside the forum window (not completely behind it) just enough so that you can tell if someone begins to chat. If everyone will do this, it will increase activity. Otherwise people will log on, see nobody on, and log off. You could have missed someone by mere seconds or minutes.

What you can use these chatrooms for:
-General Chat
-Roleplay
-Private 1 on 1 Chat
-Use Your Imagination

Rules:
This chatroom is not monitored constantly. Report any problems in the Official Chatroom to a moderator, or to Mr. Brownrigg. Any problems or complaints with the Althernate Chatroom should be brought to my attention. Do not abuse the chatrooms by insulting others or causing harm with malicous intent in text. Do not use these chatrooms for financial gain, or for sexual solicitations. You may be banned, or (based on the seriousness of the situation) reported to authorities. Identity theft, such as (but not limited to) using someone elses name with harmful intent and/or to decieve others, is a crime punishable by fines or imprisionment. DON'T DO IT!

If there are any problems concerning the chatrooms and/or its functionality, post about it here.

Original Messege:
Ok. I can see that this MUCK is too much of a hassle for everyone. You have to figure out how to use telnet, log in, and use the text controls.

My solution? I can create and host a chatroom on my webspace that is easy to register and use. I did this already for a particular Freelancer (space game) community I have played with for some time. At least in that case it is useful during times of game server outages.

What do yall think? Wanna give it a go? I can set it up if this is a good idea. If nobody is interested in a chatroom that can be accessed from school and college terminals (for chat between classes) than who is?? Pluse I need to know if I'm not wasting my bandwidth on this venture.

Don't bother.

This person went through the trouble of creating Teamspeak for the Pack.

No one is using it now. :P

That's because you have to download teamspeak, AND have a working microphone headset. My chatroom would be an instant text thing, with no files to download. I think people would find that ease of use more appealing.

Here is an example of one I'm hosting. -Link Removed-

I'll be setting up The Pack chatroom for a trial run. If this community likes it, and can make good use of it, I'll keep it running. If not, I'll deactivate it and I can say I tried. I don't have time to create it at this moment since I'm about to head off to work, but when I get back I'll upload the files for the chatroom.

Chatroom is online. Lets give it a good test run. If everyone likes it, we'll keep it.

Eh....I registered and took a look at it, but then I deleted my account.
Why doesn't anyone join though?
I mean, if people joined then I probably would too.

I only JUST NOW uploaded it to the internet. I don't expect everyone to join it within the first 10 minutes. LoL!

You said "whats up", then logged off 2 seconds later. Is there some kind of lag on the server, or is it functioning properly?

Edit: Nevermind, it is working just fine. Some nice conversations already took place. Rock!
:howl: :oo

We might need to have this thread turned into a sticky and put in a more active section of the forum. This chatroom is already getting some activity.

I logged in briefly. Interestingly enough, I didn't have to create an account first; I just plugged in my Pack name and password, and logged in.

It's a thought, creating a Pack chatroom. But, it's had a hard time gaining regular usage so far. I myself don't generally do chats very much or very long because of time constraints. (That, and it's a lot easier to post long-winded intellectual essays on traditional BBSes.)

To each his own. If its popular with the forum goers even in the least, it wont hurt to keep it online. Plus it's handy for chatting across a room during college classes.

I do appreciate having it there. It surprises me that Pack chatrooms haven't gained more popularity.

I think it's because of the timezone and all our schedules, to tell you the truth there aren't that many regulars..... :(

I think its because the MUCK and Teamspeak ideas were too difficult to use. MUCK required some time to understand the text program. Teamspeak required the use of a mic, and some people don't have mics, or dont want to be heard.

My chatroom is simple. Click, Login, Chat.
