My first thought when I saw the title was that it would be about Goldenwolf's artwork.

My second thought when I saw "not about werewolves" was that it was a car commercial.

My final thought. . . Well, the combination of China/India statistics, the unrelated reminder that England used to mean something, and the whole "you're all gonna' die" thing about computers at the end; the whole thing struck me as the product of an angry emo British kid.

the point was more to show1) how fast things are changing and 2) how far America is behind , maybe not technology wise, but in the education of our youth. the slide about England in 1900 was to show as a contrast to America now.

it is. thats scary that there would be 1,100 people just like you in india :o it does bring up the points that north america is behind.

the english speaking thing was weird too. i mean, the number one?

altough, building a super computer that exceeds a human brain is not a good idea imho.

My teacher showed this to my shop class.

I'm still trying to beat it into the heads of my classmates that India isn't smarter than us - they just have more honor kids becuase they have more kids period.

Then again, if they can't grasp that, maybe India IS smarter. Haha.

Not really. It just means America is behind in the "Pop out babies at an obscene rate" category.

And can't say I'm unhappy that we are. We have enough urban sprawl as it is.

Computers will only exceed the human brain in areas of memory storage, computing capacity, etc. It'll be a long time before you get an actual AI that will be able to match a human. Just a really good processor or such. *shrug*

This may sound naive, but I -do- know what I am saying...

And I do know that this future technology stuff scares me. A lot. I cannot keep up with it anymore. The flashy phones...my phone isn't even a colour phone! I like my phone! I don't fancy living in a world where our clothes can change colour at will, where we have the internet on our fridge doors (Yes, these exist, much to my shock), where we wake up to the sounds of ... yes, fake nature on a screen.

I just don't see the point in a lot of technological advances, but I see point in other advances, such as technology allowing us to test medicines and soap products -without- the use of animal testing, to cure diseases and such. (They hope to create extremely intense computer models of the human anatomy).

But I really do fear for our world. I'm getting lost. I fear because I don't want to live my life out where the internet is our main communication and socialising becomes a thing of the past where it concerns proper speech and such. While I really do love this messageboard, I would much adore meeting you all in real life.

All pros have their cons.

All isn't bad, there is hope, of course, but I guess this is my opinion because I don't particularly like this movement of technology.
