Does my mind count?

Well, in terms of relaxation, my favorite places in the world are:

- The creek near my house. It's located in a valley of sorts, and is incredibly difficult to access -- but the babbling of water and soft rustling of leaves is irresistable to me!

- My bed; a perpetually heated water bed located is my subterranean bedroom. With one hand grasping a good book, and the other stroking an affectionate feline.

- On my couch, Saturday mid-morning, with a good game running on my xbox (If the game is terrible...well...then the opposite of relaxation will commence.)

- Anyplace that can effectively be described with the word "solitude." I don't get enough alone-time in my day to keep me pleased.

My bedroom in the morning when the sun is just rising and slowly lighting up the room. But only when I dont have to get up.

And the back porch at like 2-5AM.

There is a park on my street that I always enjoy going to. It's surrounded by a shallow forest, which truthfully, I can't wander in. I had a weird dream last night about me going to it and howling, but I don't think I'd do that. Maybe one day. :)

I also need to get up the courage to spend some time in the small forest behind my house at night. Spending time in any outside situation really relaxes me as long as the weather is pleasant, day or night.

As far as the indoors go, I love spending time in my bedroom (at home, not at school), or in front of a nice warm fire. ;)

the beach! not the type where its wall-to-wall full of people and people's blankets are touching each other.. but just listening to the waves and feeling the water lap against my feet in the soft wet sand.. i can never stay mad/stressed/etc too long there

There was an inactive volcano that hosted a park. It was called Carney Park, and I used to go there for 4th of July or New Year's. It was really green inside, and the rim was surrounded by trees. If all the lights went out, you could stargaze all summer long.

I miss that park. It's a place frequently hosted in my plot bunnies when I'm feeling creative.

The beach is so much cooler when its NOT 90 degrees out. I just dont understand baking in the sun. But when there's a nice breeze...just beautiful!

Sometimes I wish that I lived near a beach. We don't get too much sunshine during the year up here, so I suppose that almost every day on the beach here would be pleasant. Except when the lake freezes over!
And everything under the sun is in tune, but the sun is eclipsed by the moon.

Remember what I said about to many worries in my mind? I'll be worried when a hurricane comes and destroys my home. I just rather visit the beach instead of living near one.

Its a good thing NY is no where near the equator. But that doesn't mean it's totally safe. Imagine what would happen if an earthquake hits several 100 miles off the coast.

And as for your winters, Brrrrrrrr!!!

I would have to say my back porch, as long as it's not a creepy night, other wise I'll be kind of horrified.
and my bed, I can just lay in it for hours and feel at ease.

Maybe I just live in a general bad area, but I don't find beaches, or even the coast in general, very relaxing at all. There are two beaches close by where I live, one is a frequent stop for the loud and obnoxious, and the other is carefully guarded by a community of nasty old-fartish rich people (the most externally beautiful spots always attract the most internally ugly people).
outwarddoodles wrote:Does my mind count?
This would have been my answer too. I'm better relaxed by writing, listening to music or playing a video game than I am by any scenery. The only time I ever go anywhere specific to relax, all I'm really ever looking for is some place where I can shut the door and be alone (in which case even the bathroom can suffice).

Hmm...
I'd say it would depend on my state of mind. Places that help me relax though would be laying in front of the fireplace on a snowy/cold day. There I can just read, watch a movie or fall asleep. Also driving on a nice day with the windows down and some good music playing (Especially when I'm going somewhere good, aka not school/work/dentist.) Shopping with friends and/or family (having money to spend increases the good mood. lol). Walking in the park. Laying on the beach. Hanging out in my room(sometimes). Eating out with others.
I'm usually relaxed at these places, but like I said, it depends on my mood/stress level that day and time.

Outside in the rain or snow.
I'm working on a werewolf novel, while liking to stay up late at night and going to college. I'm going to be sleep-deprived when this is all said and done. :sleepy:

Anthony Brownrigg, I hope you have the best of luck with Freeborn. RedEye, I also wish you the best of luck with Wulfen Blood. And for a bit of luck for both of you... :ducktoss3:

I have a local day spa I go to every couple of months or so.

Yeah, yeah, I know, paying to relax, how consumerist. But masseurs pay about $25,000 to get trained and certified and they need to make that back, too.

It's true that I collect essential oils and suchlike, and I massage my poor ittwe wolf feeties every night as part of my bedtime ritual. But given my arthritis, it's hard for me to stretch back as far as my spine and I'm not quite double-jointed enough to give myself anything better than a monkey-scratch in terms of myo-fascial manipulation. Sometimes, paying somebody else to do something you could do on your own is necessary. And hey, it works.

Between day spa visits, I make a weekly ritual where I turn off the computer, turn off the phone, turn off the major lights, turn on the faerie lights, cuddle up with the cat and listen to the "Music from the Hearts of Space" radio show on my local NPR station. Good, ambient, chill-down music. Check out their website, http://www.hos.com for a sampling of what they play.

In a field, at night under a full moon. Then I stare at it for a few hours, and stumble home trying to recover from the near blindness. But I enjoy it. :howl: :oo

I guess that no one else believes. :(

The place i find relaxing is when i'm sitting on my porch at like 1am in the morning with a nice full moon.
So silent, calm and peaceful. Or when i'm with my friends.
