GTA 4

Post by Miguel »

I am understanding that this may be old news. But, Grand Theft Auto 4, has been announced for both the Xbox-360 and PS3. It is due to release on October 16, 2007.

The game will feature a much more realistic setting, and is taking place in Liberty City(Modern Day New York). There is likely going to be a change in the pedestrian behavior during day and night, as well as a class change (Ex: Businessmen-lowerclass). THe game will feature multiplayer and more realistic AI. There is a difference from the previous GTA titles. Where in GTA IV, you choose your path.

I'll totally buy it. Love GTA. They're so fun.

I wonder if it'll have the stats and stuff like in GTA III. Being able to customize your character like that was fun.

I was wondering, Will GTA IV release on PC too?
I played GTA III, Vice City and San Andreas all in PC and they all totally kickass! I recently saw GTA IV trailer from the web and the graphic is superb!

btw, I thought Rockstar Games postponed the release date to 2008?

Right now I don't have either system, so it's not very high up on my to do list. However, if I ever do finally decide on a system, this is definitely going to be one of the first titles I pick up for it.

Probably. The really good non-mascot games always tend to appear for the PC later on.

Regarding the release, I'd heard a first-quarter (IE: January-February-March) 08 release, but don't hold me to that. Rockstar will push it back as far as they have to to make sure it's as good as it should be.

The obstacle climbing from the video review looks a bit "artificial" like in San Andreas. The part where the multiplayer guys seems to be constantly hitting each other with the exact same hitting motion is also getting a big question mark from me.

I really need to play this game to make sure.

Just heard that IGN has given GTA4 a 10/10 rating, along with Official Xbox and PlayStation magazine in the UK.

GTA IV must be the epic success of console gaming of 2008!

(Damn! Will the PC version be released? At least 2009?)

Chances are the PC version is gonna get worst review because its out later and critics are gonna complain on the controls because developers and critics are idiots for ignoring PC gamers.

PC versions of GTA III, Vice City and San Andreas also had quite pleasurable reviews. But still....not as good as consoles version. And yep....they shoulda release the PC version along with consoles too...(I'd hate to wait.)

*nods* The games were designed with system controllers in mind, so the transition is never perfect.

And what few friends I have that are the "must have now" types. . . Haven't been in touch since they told me they were going to get it. I guess that means it lives up to its promises. :grinp:

I voted "no" myself. I'm just not all that interested in role-playing a criminal fighting his way through the low-life. Granted, I think the controversy surrounding the Grand Theft Auto franchise is unfair, since the mature rating already establishes that it's not a game for the kids. I don't think professional car thieves are going into the trade because they liked the game, any more than they were by watching Nicholas Cage and Angelina Jolie making off with someone else's classic Mustang in that movie. But, it's not because the game is controversial that I avoid it. I just prefer more of a sci-fi or fantasy element. Although, I have tried the demo version of Uncharted: Drake's Fortune, which would seem to be the PlayStation 3's high-def, bleeding edge answer to Atari's Pitfall.

Edit: as a side note, I grew up an enthusiast for the Pontiac Firebird, until my parents' one was stolen. It dawned on me a rather unfortunate naming coincidence for the highest end models that came out in the late 80s...

I think you're talking a little too much because of the sweeping generalization you made about how GTA4 is strictly a crim's game. From what i heard, you're given much much more options to live Niko's life a more honest one if you're actually up for the challenge of not shooting some sorry sod just for a quick buck, compared to previous games. In fact, it's already been said that Niko "almost" regretted his angry past.

Actually I never liked the Grand Theft Auto series. I did enjoy them, but after beating it. The game gets bored a little while. I have the whole trilogy for Xbox. I decided to sell them and I will won't buy GTA IV

Since no one else said I will! What will make this game really awesome if it has a . . . a . . . a werewolf in it! There I said, now I want stake! :meat:
