A question about xbox live

I know its a simple questions, but I must know, do you NEED the gold membership to play your games online, or do they just give you a better matchmaking service with it?

Gold membership is needed to play online. Silver membership will only get you the ability to download content.

hm, I find that kind of stupid, people get games that aren't MMOs so they don't have to play for them

nope, and i don't think they have for a while. But hey, 5.99 a month isn't bad!
