Name: Rafael Lowell

Appearance details: Rafel's appearances tends to reflect his latino heritage. His skin is well-tanned, his long hair is a deep, dark black and often tied back, and his eyes are a deep, dark brown - only a few shades lighter than the iris of his eye. He looks as young as his 23 years would suggest he should, with a boyish, clean-shaven face, athletic body and bright smile.

Personality: Rafael is a explorer and an optimist. He likes to go to strange new places and meet new people and generally maintains a positive outlook on life until something happens to drag that outlook down a few notches. He usually bounces right back up pretty quickly, however. Rafael's bright personality has made him the one to often crack jokes - especially during less than 'happy' times in order to try and raise people's spirits.

Character history: Rafael has had a pretty normal upbringing. He grew up, went to school, got good grades, and went on to college where he kept up his trend of getting good grades. Rafael had been (and still is) enamored with technology and studied various aspects of computer science, becoming quite proficient and managing to obtain a job in a company's IT department after getting out of college. One of the most unusual parts of Rafael's upbringing is his love of exploration and how it led him to learn parkour, especially as he got into more urban exploration or checking out abandoned buildings - the ability to think outside of the box in regards to means of ingress and egress was helpful. Occasionally his explorations were prompted by occult myth - checking out a 'haunted' house or such. Rafael has some minor skill in a fistfight, having grown up with several siblings and not always getting along resulted in needing to know a little of how punch someone right. Unknown to Rafael, his family has some werewolf blood and it's waiting to awaken...

Name: Tessen "sunmage" Anderson, mage protector/fake doctor

Appearance Details: Blond-black streaked hair, spiked down at the front in various directions. 17 years old, scruffy. Green eyes naturally, but wears yellow contact lenses. 1m 87cm in height, very slightly underweight. Likes wearing a mix of dark and light coloured clothes, and has pale skin.

Personality: A cheerful fellow, at first glance, with little or no cares. This is used to persuade quite a few people, but when known better he is abrupt and drawn into himself, preferring to be alone than with others. He still feels loyalty and honour and will protect everyone he can so long as it is possible.

Character history: Son of the mages Nuan(father) and Solace,(mother) it was assumed he would have potent magical abilities from a young age. However, in actual fact there was little talent in him, much to his parent's dismay. They home-schooled him in various arts to make sure he still had a variety of skills, but he never truly developed magical potential until 16, when he was attacked by a vampire one night, and he saw every move before it happened. Since then, he joined a small organization called the foreseers, a dedicated group especially for those with scrying and precognition. now working as a fake medical doctor, with an ID stating a false age and name, he travels around to try and prevent calamity where he can, to humans and the other races.

Proper char:

Name: Thomas Gerry, Attorney

Appearance Details: 32 years old, 5”8, brown eyes, black hair
Personality: Thomas Gerry is a rather calm and person, rarely showing much emotion unless he needs to. He is a planner who has many long term ambitions and interests. In fact he has a slightly dangerous curiosity at times, often leading him. When things go awfully wrong though, his wall of calmness shatters.

Character History: Thomas grew up in a rich family. Surrounded by his high status parents Thomas was compelled to be just as good. As he eventually got into high school, this ambition and want to be on top got bigger and bigger. His main interest and best subject was law and this drove him to the idea of being an attorney. The idea of being one was attractive to him and pushed him into the schooling of that area after high school. Thomas was one to use his mind and manipulative skills, often getting people to do things for him. In his young adult life he also got quite skilled with driving cars.
As he got into law school and learnt more he eventually met some other people, those aspiring to be politicians, people wanting to go into government, he formed connections which made sure grey and as he became slowly became a fully qualified attorney, he tended to these connections and made sure they grew. A year ago he came across a case of strange animal attacks. Many “crazies” believed that it was a human animal hybrid and Thomas, curious on this subject, has been looking into it ever since.

Name: Yami Light

Appearance details: About 6' 4", soft tan skin. His eyes are half green and half amber from his parents strange mixture. He has shoulder length white hair and numerous battle scars over his body. One over his right eye, one on his left shoulder, his left side, bite marks from a fight on his left arm, a needle scar going down a few inches on his left hip which pains him from time to time giving him a limp and on some severe occasions making him collapse. He also has a scar on his chest and on the back of his left leg from a stab wound. He has a flame tattoo ring around his upper right arm.

Personality: Very serious demeanor however does have a good time. A major player when it comes to women, he's often quite the ladies man. Can tend to like to be in charge since he was once an alpha but was taken from his pack. Does not like nonsense except from children

Character history: His father is dead, so he inherited the alpha position from him, but was taken away and preformed horrible experiments on. That's where many of the scars come from. Wingman,
If you wouldn't mind, I have two questions:

1: Would other unique moments in the moon's cycle such as the harvest moon qualify as a moon phase?

2: Will there be other supernatural beings featuring in the story as it may be important to the developement of my (and possibly other) character(s). As it seems this is a modern-day world, the monsters (given there will be) could be a subtle variety and would only appear on a unique occasion.

1) I actually hadn't considered using the harvest moon and such as choices for players, largely because of how infrequently they occur. That and because the other two major templates(vampires and magic users) are both on a day-night flux of power.
Well, truth be told I planned to use things like the harvest moon, and hunter's moon, as well as the seasons for older and stranger things, such as the Fey, elemental spirits, and some spellcasting and such. I just didn't include them with the day/night/moon phases because I didn't want a player who picked one to have to wait a couple months to have their moment of glory.
On the whole, yes you can pick them. Though, at the moment, I'm pretty sure you have 7 months or something before the harvest moon occurs ingame. And at the rate the game is going, we might not reach that point until next year without some fastforwarding. As a game balance tradeoff, rarer things like that would likely be more potent than what's gained during the listed moon phases. I was originally planning on only using them for NPCs and plot events, but you can certainly choose them yourself. Even things like environmental locations are viable choices, if you wanted to play something like a water witch, or a forest guardian, or desert shaman or whatnot.
The basic mechanic for all of it is that your character would be slightly more powerful in/during the choice, though it's possible that you could play a character that's weaker when not in/during whatever they pick. It's up to you.

2) In short, yes. I've been planning for some time to include the Fey, and at least one dragon. Though, they are pretty rare nowadays on Earth, or at least hidden. I guess that's why it's so good that there's more than just the Earth that things can be from, eh? My goal for this setting is to allow for just about anything, from elves to gods to Lovecraftian horrors from beyond the Void.
Anything specific you had in mind?

Alright, considering my options, let's see what I can come up with:

Name: Jax Masis

Appearance: Male. Age 28. 6' 1". Eerily pale skin. Deep maroon eyes masked in a veil of deathly-straight dark-brown hair. Rather skinny frame but has a sturdy-enough build.

Personality: Is not a social person and never hopes to be. Quite skilled in linguistics but prefers not to speak when it is not needed as he feels doing such would make anyone look a fool. His biology encourages him to constantly act upon instinct and forget all logic but he refuses to succumb to this half of himself willingly as he knows it would quickly lead to many complications; one possible complication being death. Though, there are occasional "slips" that cause some trouble. It is not so much an emotional slip as he has had control of those since his early adolescence. It is more of an instinctual slip that involves him reverting to his primal habits if only for a moment.

History: Born and raised until the age of 14 in Northern Alaska with his very large "family". As he was the born son of the alpha in his pack (named the Vierra), his parents expected him to be their next great leader; he was even starting to show signs that he would be as he was much faster than many in his village and had a very talented strategic mind. But Jax had other dreams. He wanted to know people; to understand people and how they managed to survive without the unbelievably strong instincts constantly ruling over their judgment. Obviously, his parents were furious by these dreams of his as not only would it mean the demise of the pack, but it would also put Jax at risk of being cast out of the pack forever to live a life of exile from his family, and as his father would constantly repeat to him: "The life of the lone wolf holds no rewards".
By some bizarre twist of fate, however, Jax had gotten his wish. On a dark night; darker than all the others, a large group of hunters had entered the pack's territory, killing many of the pack; including Jax's parents while Jax watched in a small, well-hidden closet. Those still alive after the invasion had split into two groups: the Clavara and the Masis. The Clavara wanted to rebuild the pack's village while the Masis wanted to split the village apart so no other hunters would find them. A decision was quickly made in which those few who would side with the Masis would leave the village, never to return; Jax being one of them.
And so, Jax left his home without the slightest bit of remorse for his decision. The other Masis had helped him get through school in which he happened to very much enjoy, even though he never got amazing grades (an average B, B+ range); while at the same time, they guided him on controlling his emotions (as the Vierra pack seems to be in less control over them) from the rest of the world as not to awaken any unwanted eyes to them. This worked very well; likely too well. Very soon, he started to change drastically; some would say for the worst. It seemed the only expressions he could create on his face was either curiosity, deep thought or an eerie amusement. Because of this, other kids in school soon became frightened of him and started to avoid him; even the teachers showed a certain reluctance to call on him in class. But Jax certainly didn't mind this as he knew it to be pointless to make any real "friends" in this strange society.
So, life went on; Jax graduating from college (majoring in psychology) and gaining a cozy job relatively easily as a local psychologist. The job has been fulfilling and he has been happy with it; though he always knew that it would not last.

Looking good, Goliathe Dark.
One note, with the Wits Talent comes a supernatural sense of some kind, such as a wolf's sense of smell, the ability to "see" magical energies, the ability to see in the dark, or the ability to see/hear with superhuman clarity, and so forth. It's up to you which one you pick. By default, my werewolves don't gain any particular keen senses(aside from any Wits increases they might have), though they can try to sniff out stuff while transformed, it's not a sure thing that they'll be able to smell whatever they're looking for.

I fixed the spelling on a few words in your post, mostly the eerily and such.
Also, psychology!.

That's quite hilarious, but I almost shudder to ask where that came from.

In response to the Wits matter, I understood that from the start. The only reason I didn't put specifications on what kind of Wit I wanted was because I was having a very difficult time deciding between smell and hearing. In the end, for the purpose of my character, I decided hearing would be slightly more important.

......and thanks for the spell checking. :)

Honestly, I'm not very good with preferences. I suppose, try not to introduce me in any "silly" way as I can't tell you how much that annoyes me. Feel free to "silly-up" the circumstances after the introduction though. To me, it just seems if you introduce a character in a silly way, people are bound to think that they are a silly character. And that is not what I'm going for. You've obviously read my character history and I'm sure you can deduce he is not a silly person, but I'm sure there will be at least one anonymous overhyper ten-year-old going "when's he gunna say something funny?"

Sorry for the rant but I'm sure you've witnessed at least one person who does this, regardless of their age. Someone akin to those who make stupid comments on serious films, essentially.
