Forum Games Section...

Well, the forum games section is kinda just messing around. Anyone else think an admin should make posts in that section not count towards post count? IT seems to me that it's an easy way to "inflate" your post count without making a good contribution to the board. After all post count ought to be usable as a measure to guess how much someone has contributed.

I am just curious..Why does that seem to bother you? :? Is this forum about post counts or just to have fun an talk about our love for the werewolf? I personally never look at my post count..I didn't think it was even that important imho :P

This subject has come up several times in the past. The Word Association thread does not affect your post count (unless this has changed without my knowledge), and other forum games may or may not count. I don't know the status of the RP board.

Some users try to use post counts to gauge participation in the focal points of the forum (here, especially, making the ultimate werewolf). When there's something out there that allows for massive frivolous posting, that throws their ability to measure participation - the way they want to. This can be quite irking. As for me, I just strive to be on top of the pile, which I've achieved elsewhere, but not here.

It bothered me because the Word Association thread has 829 pages.

How many posts are in that one thread?

I just figured that that forum shouldn't be counted towards post count.

It should not just be about contributing to the things you like...Contributing to forum games may add to another individuals enjoyment of this forum. Does that not count for anything?

Well, overall... no. (In my opinion. :P ) "Contributing" would more likely fall under discussing world events, commenting on artworks/poems, further defining what a werewolf is, and such related stuff. Posting single sentense posts of pointless dribble has never counted as a contribution to The Pack as a whole in my honest opinion. Others might disagree of course.

I suppose 5% of my own post count is from forum games, but due to that fact, my post count is much lower than everyone elses. You can never tell a person's true level of constructive posts though just a post count. I would imagine that a person's contributions would be more recognized by the fellow members. If Figarou left, we would notice. Why? Because his contributions are many, and have made an impact on the individual level for most members. The same can be said about many others here.

Want to feel like a more important member of the Pack? (Not that it really should matter so much.) Take part in the many discussions that happen here, and give all the postitive encouragement you can to your fellow members. That's what usually makes a person's forum name stick in my head anyways.

Agreed. Quite simply, post count was put there to measure participation. Since the Forum Games section adds literally nothing to this forum, it should add to your post count. Lots of people look at post count, sabre. It's there for a reason.

I second the notion for locking out "forum games" from adding to the member's post count.

Take a look at your post count. Then go post in the forum games section.

Did your post go up by one? No? well...no need to lock it.

That section has already been fixed so the posts won't count. Thanks to Lupin. Its been that way for over a year. Maybe closer to 2 years. :grinp:
