The Werewolf fans need a name!!!

Post by akujiwolf »

The director and I, as well as the rest of The Producers have come to a realization. The werewolf fans need names. Something that the entire group can go by, if you will. We thought of some names, but then decided "this needs to be something the die-hard werewolf fans come up with." So, what we need from you guys are some ideas and thoughts of what the werewolf fans want to be called? So, post, PM do whatever. The most popular names will be put into a poll and voted on. We need this because we are thinking of adding a special treat at the end just for all you guys that have given us so much encouragement and wonderful ideas! :D

Ok and now for the poll. *Updated* since there has been a demand for more poll options i've added 3 more. I think that's fair....i hope...

Im sorry but I had to reset the poll. I apologize.

Oh, like at the end of the credits? Just so you know, the theater will be empty by the time the message appears.

It should be a message that everyone will understand. Not just the werewolf fanatics.

Like this...

"Special thanks to all the werewolf fanatics for thier encouragement and wonderful ideas."

A non-werewolf fan won't know what you guys are talking about if you say for example

"Thanks to the "woofers" for thier encouragement and wonderful ideas."

They'll think.... "Woofers?" "Whats a woofer?" "Do they mean sub-woofer?"

keep this in mind.

thats my 2 cents.

That is why it was spelt "Wolfers" and not "Woofers"

I'm trying to think of others... how about Packmates?

Yes, well we have taken into consideration that normal people won't understand. However, we want something special for you guys. Anyways, it's not my descision what to do once you guys nominate a name for yourselves. I just put the thread up.

hmmmm...someone forgot to log in. The "guest" feature needs to be turned off.

Well, I have no idea what to call ourselves. I'm just a plain and simple werewolf fanatic. Nobody special.

Home theater is my cup of tea and I don't even have a name for it. I can't wait for the DVD release of this film. I hope it comes out few months after the theatrical release. And I hope its a directors cut from the start. Not a regular release and then down the road a director's cut. I hate that.

Hey...I like this idea. ...no brainstorms though.
Maybe a throwback to the films original project name, such as "The Devoured" ?
( I believe I read that the title will be changed before the release)
...I don't know. I'm not good at being original.

I'm not sure what we should be reffered to as...

Wolfers, TheWereCrew, whatever. Just as long as it's not some long winded name that needs to be shortened down to an acronym in order to be fit it into a sentence.

I would stay away from the term “Wolfers”, as this is already common parlance for people who hunt wolves.

Okay, I'll explain what exactly is going on the best I can. And I shall do it, (as i'm so apt to do) in dialogue form.

This is a fictional meeting last night between the directors, producers and writers..... some guy with coffee, and Akujiwolf sitting darkly in the corner, watching all with a narrowed eye.

FADE IN: SMALL OFFICE

ME
Okay Im really happy with how much response the site has gotten. Its really pushing the quality of this movie up and out man. But I wanna make sure that we keep the core audience consistent. the ones that are really die hard werewolf fans. those are the guys that will tell EVERYONE if they don't like it, and also tell EVERYONE if they do like it.

SOMEONE ELSE
So it seems the die hard werewolf fans are definitly the ones that are making the difference here, I agree, but I also want to keep the non die hard werewolf fans happy.

ME
Mainly the die hard werewolf fans are the ones on this site.

SOMEONE ELSE
Ahhh, I see, so do the die hard werewolf fans go other places too? Like places that just regular werewolf fans go?

ME
Dude, there are whordes of places for the die hard werewolf fans. the non-die hard werewolf fans go a lot of places as well, but not as often

The office door opens and some guy dressed in bermuda shorts carrying a coffee mug in one hand and a half full coffee pot in the other walks in, and stops in the doorway.

SOME GUY WITH COFFEE
Hey are you guys talking about the die hard werewolf fans?

ALL
Yeah.

SOME GUY WITH COFFEE
It would seem to me theres a lot of die hard werewolf fans right?

ALL
Sure.

SOME GUY WITH COFFEE
Can we call them something other than die hard werewolf fans? I'm really getting tired of hearing that, and Its hard to keep explaining that there are fans of horror, and fans of creature features, and werewolf fans, and then the ones on this site, that are the die hard werewolf fans.

ME
Yeah, I see your point. Well what do we call em? Werefans?

SOMEONE ELSE
We need something for them like 'blog' ....this is a new kinna thing we're doing I think, and we should really make those that are part of all this part of some kind of continum so we don't have to keep referring to folks as fans of the film, and then the die hard werewolf fans.

ME
Continum?

SOMEONE ELSE
Well you know what I'm saying....

GUY WITH COFFEE
Ohh, like the Borg Continum?

ME
That's the Q Continum moron.

AKUJIWOLF
Hey, lets ask the fans themselves what they would like to be referred to as. Maybe start some kind of new group name for werewolf fans.

ME
Fantastic idea Akuji! Get on it.....

Its going to be difficult to come up with a name for ourselves. We are all werewolf fanatics, but we can be sub divided. You have your furries, kitsune, and maybe a few others. White-wolf publishing has 13-14 tribes of werewolves. We can't use those names. Copyright infringment.

I'll just stick to werewolf fanatics.

The 'Were-watchers' ?
Okies that''s not great but it's apt.

We watch this board avidly, dissect 'were' features at length.... etc etc... So in future I would describe myself as a TF'er and Were-watcher, because I am.
http://tfboard.co.uk if you think human to other creature transformations are cool then I'd love to see you there.

I agree

I think what is being asked for here is not just a name for the visitors to this forum, but WereWolf fans in general. You know...something simple...like ONE word.

Yes...but I think "moonstruck" could be interpreted in different ways. Werewolves are not the only thing associated with the moon you know. It is actually one of the most popular entities in world mythology. (don't ask me to give examples...history and liturature were two of my worst classes in school)

How about Lupiners then, or Howlers, or even Canis Luvus... ok maybe that last one is a bit much

That's pretty good, the only thing I could see is people pronouncing it wrong since if you say the word it sounds a bit like "working"... maybe with a Boston accent

How about Wolfkin?

I need to think this over, I know something will come to me if I give it some more thought... this could take a bit though :D

Werekin, Wolfkin, that sounds sorta familier to me.

Isn't there an obscure subculture on the internet called Otherkin? If I'm remembering it correctly, they're a group of people that believe they're mythical creatures in disguise, not human.

Hmm, if I am remembering that correctly, that those names would be a bit too closely related for comfort.
