Re: Werewolf Code?

Post by takyoji »

Here's the prompts and answers, basically almost as-is from the prior work of Vilkacis, with minor modification so far, based upon the current input. It would be wonderful to have some critique on it and to get it finalized.

Degree of Shapeshifting
  • Werewolves are full fledged shapeshifters -- they can transform into anything!
  • Werewolves can transform into full wolves, and that's it!
  • Werewolves can only shift into hybrid form.
  • Werewolves can transform into both hybrid and full wolf form.
  • They can take on any degree of transformation between human and full wolf.
  • Werewolves can't shift, silly.
  • It's all in the mind.
Shifting Triggers
  • Werewolves must shift under the full moon.
  • Werewolves must shift under any phase of the moon (so: every nightfall).
  • The full moon induces shifting, but it can be resisted with experience.
  • The moon has no effect on this process.
How Lycanthropy is Spread (multi)
  • By bite
  • Through any bodily fluid
  • By claw
  • Through sex
  • Hereditary
  • By magic or a curse
Silver
  • Deadly to a werewolf -- it burns to even touch it
  • Toxic, but no more so than to humans. The mere touch of it has no effect.
  • Does nothing whatsoever. Due to a werewolf's regenerative system, they can handle even more of it than a human.
Water
  • Has no effect
  • Can't cross rivers or bodies of water
  • Can't even cross streams
  • Water burns and can be deadly
  • It only has an effect if it's holy water
Gender
  • Same as in human form
  • Same, but sterile
  • Cross gender transformations are possible
  • No gender at all
Uniqueness
  • All werewolves are unique, based on their genetic structure
  • Werewolves are unique based on traits other than genetic structure
  • A werewolf will share traits depending on who bit them
  • All werewolves are pretty much exactly the same
Diet (multi)
  • humans
  • domesticated animals
  • non-domesticated animals
  • insects
  • fruit
  • vegetables
  • dairy
  • naughty children
Telltale Human Signs (multi)
  • unibrow
  • hairy palms
  • pointy teeth
  • claw-like nails
  • tail
  • excessive body hair
  • eyes
  • psychological / behavioral changes
Speech
  • can't communicate verbally
  • can speak a limited beast tongue of sorts
  • can speak human languages
  • can communicate telepathically
Stance
  • digitigrade/bipedal
  • digitigrade/quadrupedal
  • digitigrade/either
  • plantigrade
Shapeshifting at Will
  • Werewolves can transform anytime they want, without limit.
  • Most werewolves will learn how to control it through experience.
  • They can learn, but lose control if their emotions get out of hand.
  • It's hard, but many gain some limited degree of control.
  • They can, but it is very difficult. Most will not learn to do so.
  • They have no control over the process whatsoever.
Degree of Pain while Shifting
  • It is so painful few ever survive their first shift.
  • It's so painful that it is deadly for many.
  • It's painful enough to kill the sick and the weak.
  • Somewhat painful, but you get used to it
  • No pain, really
How Long Shifting Can be Delayed
  • It can be put off effectively forever.
  • It can be put off for one year or longer
  • A few months or so
  • A few weeks (or until the next full moon)
  • A few days at most
  • Must shift every night, or at least once a day
How Long One Can Stay Shifted
  • They can maintain the form as long as they want
  • It can be put off for a year or longer
  • A few months or so
  • A few weeks
  • A few days at most
  • Must return to normal form in 24 hours or less
Intelligence
  • Extremely intelligent
  • Very intelligent
  • Above average intelligence
  • About what you would expect from a normal human
  • Below average human intelligence, or a very intelligent animal
  • The intelligence of an animal
  • Stupid, uncontrollable beast
Regenerative Abilities
  • You could vaporize a werewolf, and it would still come back.
  • Werewolves can regrow limbs.
  • Pretty tough to kill. Can't regrow limbs, or anything, though
  • Accelerated healing
  • No regenerative ability at all -- just normal flesh and blood
Jumping Ability
  • Can leap tall buildings in a single bound
  • Van Helsing style
  • Pretty high
  • Higher than humans, at least
  • No higher than your average human
Strength
  • Could win an arm-wrestling match with the Incredible Hulk
  • Could pound its way through a steel door, before long
  • Stronger than your average bear
  • Most humans would be no match
  • No more strength than a normal human
  • Weak
Size
  • Twice as big as a human, or even bigger
  • At least three or four feet bigger
  • A couple feet bigger than human form
  • About the same as in human form
  • Smaller than in human form
  • Pretty big far a wolf
  • Wolf sized
Colorization
  • natural wolf colors
  • colors that may or may not be natural
  • colors that are slightly unnatural
  • colors that are decidedly unnatural
Longevity
  • Won't die of natural causes
  • Live a really long time
  • Longer than a natural human lifespan
  • As long as a human that actively maintains their health throughout their entire lives
  • No longer than their human lifespan
  • In between a human and a wolf's lifespan
  • About as long as a wolf
  • Lycanthropy severely speeds up the aging process
Rarity / Commonality
  • There are more werewolves than humans, maybe a lot more!
  • They're everywhere, man. Everywhere, I tell ya'!
  • There sure are a lot of them. You never really know who is who.
  • There are just enough of them to keep you on your toes
  • They're out there, but they pretty much stay out of the way
  • They're rather rare, actually
  • Practically extinct
Speed and Agility
  • Can dodge bullets like in The Matrix
  • Could make a cat jealous
  • Speed and agility unparalleled by human standards
  • No more agile than your average human
  • Slower than in human form
  • Could make a slug jealous
  • Takes a full ten seconds just to blink
Irritability
  • When is it not in a bad mood?
  • Quick to anger, even quicker to wrath
  • Easily angered
  • No different than a human
  • Slow to anger
  • Wouldn't hurt you even if you yanked its tail
  • Never gets angry -- ever.
Vision
  • Excellent vison
  • Above average vision
  • Same as in human form
  • Below average
  • Same as a wolf
Quantity of Fur
  • Lions only wish they had manes this big
  • Extra hair in some appropriate places
  • Same amount of fur you would find on a wolf
  • A light coat of fur
  • No fur at all

Seems like almost all bases were covered with that list of traits; they seem well thought out and interesting!

I did find 3 more that could be added though.

1) Claw sharpness and length
2) Hearing abilities (maybe measured in decibels and distance, or maybe just distance for a certain sound compared to what a human could hear)
3) Sense of smell (distance away and strength of the odor in the air that can be picked up, or something along those lines)

I can't wait until this is done; I want to generate my own werewolf code! :D

Maybe I'll go do it manually using the other post...

Edit:

This sounds like a great idea, and could be very handy.

Just got hit with an interesting idea. I think I shall also make an export feature of all the data collected with the Werewolf Code feature, such as an XML format, CSV (comma separate values), ODS (Open Document Spreadsheet), XSLX (Office Open Spreadsheet). Just wondering if I should anonymize the information (as in, not provide user_ids of each entry). And in other news, the control panel for managing the prompts of the werewolf code feature is complete. All I have to do now is write the user control panel page where people can fill it out.

Hurrah! I look forward to it with, if not gusto then at least, zest.
