It is an unfortunate fact that people are afraid of what they don't fully understand.
People find it difficult to treat someone of a different culture unbiasly, let alone someone of a different species.
Odds are, the world would either become a facist supergovernment in it attempt to exterminate the weres, Or... the were infect/ destroy all the 'pure blood' humans.

hence my concern.

To 'Timber-WoIf'...I wholeheartedly agree. I certainly hope we all have more worthwhile dreams and asperations than just that. That might be cool (depending on the details), but it is hardly a Life-Fulfilling goal.

To 'Figarou'...the only thing that can guarantee your unending debt is that hopeless, pessamistic attitude of yours. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

On the Main Topic...

I voted "NO WAY".

Even if it was on EVERY News station, and even if one of the supposed Lycanthropes shifted right in front of me, I would still be trying to figure out why they are going through all of this trouble to sustain this global hoax and conspiracy. I've seen too many convincing magic shows to trust my eyes that much any more. To some extent, I have to go on gut instinct, and the scenario you described just doesn't sound right somehow. ...I just don't see how that could be...

Untill I had the opportunity to cross reference the Lycanthropes secret history, with that which was allready known and recorded (accounting for the fact that I allready know that much of recorded history is either altered, misremembered or completely false)...and untill I was able to review and understand the science and biological processes that allow them to do what they do, I would Not be convinced.

If they had really been around all this time, reguardless of how well they kept themselves hidden, I'm sure more people would have noticed by now. At the very least, the global mythology would at least be somewhat more consistant in its details than it is. Plus...our current perception of what a werewolf is really does not have that much in common with how they were known back in the early legends.

...with the exeption of the loosely related "Kitsune" (Which really are not Werewolves at all, but Supernatural Shapeshifting spirits), I can't think of any legends whatsoever that described the creatures in a way to suggest that they were thier own species, or race...but rather a Condition that was imposed upon normal mortal men and women, by some force or another.

Outside of Fan-Fiction...I've never heard of a "Werewolf PACK" either...

It just doesn't add up enough for me to accept it as you presented it.

Even if, after reviewing the evidence myself, I concluded that they really were physically legit...I would still be skeptical of the origins, and would continue to 'read between the lines' and discover the TRUTH behind them.

(That is not to say that I neccesarily would assume that they have "EVIL" intentions...merely that the facts are being hidden and muddled for some reason, and I would want to know Why.)

...IF, (Going against all of my instincts and Logic) after at least a few years of careful research and consideration, I concluded that all was well enough, and I believed and trusted them, I still doubt I would be overly eager to Join Them.

In spite of the truth that "SHAPESHIFTING" is the greatest of my fanciful fantasies, and that Wolves are one of my favorite animals, my body is a Sacred thing to me, and anything that is done to it happens on MY TERMS, or it does not happen at all. (So long as it can be helped)

More likely, I would research, or at least invest in ways to Learn from them, ways to improve myself, (physically, spiritually and culturally) by seeing what they do better, and also what ways I may allready be better off as I am. I imagine the revelation of Lycanthropy to the scientific community would inspire a whole new field of medical research based upon the mechancs of the Lycanthropic body...

...not curing or treating conditions by making someone a Lycanthrope, but actually reverse-engeneering and mimicing Lycanthrope biology for the purposes of Physical reconstruction to correct birth defects, and crippling injuries...as well as possibly curing some cancers and diseases if lycanthropy provides unique resistance to these things.

"BITE ME!"?...not quite...

...but if it happened anyway, I'm sure I probobly wouldn't have too much trouble learning to live with it.

I'm making house payments. Its going to take 30 years just to pay that off.

And then there is that school tax and property tax that'll never end. I ALWAYS have to keep paying for that.

Then there is the cable bill, phone bill, water bill and electric bill.

I also have car payments. Even if I pay off the car, I still have to put money into it. (Gas, licence, inspections, ETC)

So...is there a way to be TOTALLY debt free? No.

Unless I build a log cabin out in the woods and live off the land.

There is a difference between repeated expenses, and being "In Debt".

...I thought you meant that you were deeply in the hole...not that you were asking for FREE food, room and board. That's just Lazy talk.

Besides, If you lived in a cabin in the woods, with no taxes, you would still be paying for everything you had. ...the only difference would be that you would be cutting out the middle man.

Right now you work (doing whatever you are good at)...someone gives you money...you spend the money on food...you eat the food.

Living "Off the Land", You Work (catching or farming the food)...you eat the food.

It's really the same...only with fewer steps involved.

Either way, You pay with your effort and time...money is just a way to convert the spoils of your efforts into what you need most.

My bills will never stop comming...but for the time being, they are all paid off, so for now, I would consider myself "Debt Free".

No, I wasn't bored. I wanted to see what would happen. So far, Vuldari has come off best: Find out exactly what's happening, so you can make meaningful decisions.
Now, for everybody's sake, let me add: The Vatican Library has spit out the fact that they have existed since forever. Gene-testing shows they are within .1% (1/1000th) of standard Humanity:ie: they are a RACE of Humanity, albiet a somewhat odd one, in that they are virtually Immune to disease (except Mange) and all the W.W. Perks are in place.
Further: let's say several respected University labs say they appear to be the so-called "next-step" in Human Evolution.
And, the Were' modification can be transmitted sexually, by blood transfusion, and even Kissing (deep) in some cases...biting is just the most Likely form of "Inoculation".
Downside: Dropped fertility (females have One "Heat" per year).
Manual dexterity is down: only a 50% precision grip (Touching thumb to Index and Middle finger only, ring and pinky won't reach).
Diet must be at least 3000 calories per day (Per norm.) and it must be at least 85% Protien.
Were's SMELL! Combining fur and sweat glands may keep you cool, but...wet dog is what you get.
And finally, while you can see really well at night, daytime vision is weak in the blue end of the spectrum, and all color is "pastelled out": fewer cones, more rods in the eye.

Now, what do you think? ??

AND...to fur-ther concretize the issue: Islam and Conservative Christianity have both said the same thing:
"GOD didn't create no damn Werewolves! Become one, and you become a target for Heaven's Soldiers!"

The Jews have no problems, as long as you keep Kosher.

And, since you have sweat glands, most Flea preps' won't work effectively.

I promise you, there IS a reason for all this! :shift:

I'd bonk my head, because my novel would have to get rewritten. But, I'd be bonking my head on the way to the airport, to fly to whatever city the werewolves are.

The Specification is: Homo Sap. Lupens, var. Brownrigg---
Simply to keep things within some sort of perspective.

This is interesting, though: Becoming a Were' based on Looks. Nevermind all the Perks of being a Were' longer life, virtual Immunity to everything, immediate wound recovery, Dazzling teeth...
Looks are what's important.
You are probably answering for a whole lot of people...

AND remember, read the first post where I explain everything... hwlwnk

Why do you really need a tail, honestly, just because a werewolf doesn't have a tail won't make a single difference, its just an add on.

Non sense, you can never be TOO original. It's always good to have completly new ideas for other people to get their concept off of.
