[Bewere] Plane history lesson #1

Post by Baphnedia »

Ok. I'll be appending the rules (and building the system up) more soon.

The game world is built on it's little pantheon, the gods have been really good at snuffing out any mention of other deities that they don't get along with.

There is no absolute good nor evil. Encounters will happen where players may have to choose a side, but other than that, Karma just has a way of coming back at you, for better or worse.

The Tilban region is named after one of the mages that helped Amaka gain control over the weather. The weather is varied, and seems random, but it is known that she keeps it in check, or exacts revenge with it.

Also, the Tilban region is rich with any sort of wildlife. Once outside of a city, there is much to be foraged, for any sort of critter. Around Ghulidalen, it is mostly plains, with clumps of trees growing here or there. For simplicity's sake, the next major towns off of any of the roads is a week of travel. However, once the map is updated and uploaded (this may take some time, as I'll probably ask an artist to re-do the map), travel times will be affected based on what the map has on it.

There are a number of cities near Midarra, the capitol of the plane. Midarra itself covers nine hills (as opposed to Rome's seven) and the city center is built mainly from marble, mined in the south in cities like Dolian.

Amaka and her allies won Mian (the plane) through a gruesome war, though details about what happened and when are kind of sketchy. The Church of Amaka (obviously the most trusted source of information, in a place ruled by the same woman) teaches the following:

Amaka was long ago a druid/mage, on Mian. Back in those days, there were two empires (each on a continent) and the wild lands (that made up the third, central continent). Many creatures roamed the wild lands, as did she. An evil force at the beck and call of Tithra swept through and flattened both of the empires. Tithra attempted to take the wild lands as well, but Amaka and other druids were well prepared. As the other druids fought the forces of Tithra, Amaka began creating a natural force that was sentient, bound to the wild lands. She fed it all her power continuously to build it up, and, using this Tlador, she, with the help of other druids, smote the power of Tithra. At this end, Tithra became enraged, but other battles were going on. For her creation of a very powerful being, the Druids let Amaka lead them in a rapid campaign to take back the other two continents. This was done by repeating the steps taken to fight Tithra. When the battles were complete, Amaka was pronounced ruler. The original Tlador stayed behind, to protect the wilds from attack. All three Tladors were fed power from Amaka and many, many magi, until they became the most powerful beings on the plane.

They then continue to prattle on....

Amaka founded a city to rule from in the middle of the wildlands, the very spot that she’d started creating the Tlador. Naming it Midarra, the city grew, and civilization spread to the continent. As this was happening, Amaka ascended through rulership of the plane. She strengthened the Tladors even further with her newfound powers, and found the largest tree on the plane; and made it sentient, ethereal, and asked it to monitor the plane for her. The World Tree. She founded Kar atop a precipice for the magi who helped her (while her expertise created the Tladors, their power fueled them for the fights). She developed many things on the plane, including striking a fine balance between civilization and nature. For her druidic background and her actions regarding the natural world, she became associated with nature. She studied this very much, and the fruits of her studies were far reaching. She (and the Tladors) were able to control the effects (and prevent or cause, if desired) natural disasters, weather, and other such things.

I'll post more and more history to help in character creation and other fun things... this thing might take awile.
Everyday should be Towel Day.
