Civilization hasn't been in what used to be the Wildlands for very long. With the limitations Amaka places on cities, Ghulidalen will be a border town, with nothing but wilderness to the southeast, for ages to come.
Ghulidalen is built on an old army encampment, that the forces of Tithra once used, long ago, until Amaka the Druid rolled through and flattened it. The sheltering hill still keeps many of that camp's secrets.
Everything is also written in a strange language. Everything is worded in base 625 yet only a few symbols are used. Don't worry. There won't be any spelling bees conducted here. The language facilitates many walks of life, as creatures of the wild have a tendency of being a bit smarter than you'd expect them to be.
Everything would be lost in translation if you or I were to try to actually speak it (I haven't yet developed it as a spoken language yet), though major groups of species each have their own way of expressing themselves (if they are able) in this language. Some species do not put their enhanced brains to use. Some call it a waste of effort on Amaka's part.
The plains eventually (after about a days travel) give way to a forest, that knows no bounds.
