Jarod shut his eyes for a moment. He could try and go for the gun, but it would only result in his death.

Oh God, I hope this works...

Jarod waved his paw in some sort of hand signal, in a desperate attempt to get Edward to follow him. If Edward didn't shoot before Jarod had the chance to explain himself, he had a chance to walk away. But the odds of that were slim. He trotted a bit farther through the forest giving Edward the signal again. Jarod was caught, to run meant certain death...

Edward saw the signal. He exchanged a look with Leigh and cast a look to Larharl. He then against his better judgement followed the wolf. He wasn't about to let it get away, but something was stopping him from shooting it. He couldn't tell exactally what it was. Perhapse the events of this night had changed the way he viewed things. Probably not he was as stubborn as he was old.

Jarod let Edward follow him to the tree stump where his clothing was. He tossed his gun and it's holster across the ground. His identity would more than likely make Edward want to kill him even more, but death seemed like such an easy alternative.

He knocked the clothes to the ground and nuzzled his wallet. Jarod tried to open it with his claws but with no luck. He looked back at Edward and then nodded back at the wallet. There was a slim chance that Edward wouldn't kill him, but slim was worse than nothing.

Edward followed the wolf to the treestump and looked at the pile of colthing. "Yeah so." He said simply then the wolf tossed a gun across the ground and started nuzzling the clothes. He saw the wallet and keeping his eyes trained on the wolf and his gun at ready although not aimed he picked up the wallet and opened it. What he saw made his breath catch. All his thoughts were confirmed it was Jarod standing before him. He looked at the wolf as he let the wallet fall to the ground. "So, that's why you dissapeared." He locked eyes with the wolf. "Jarod, if you're still you in there you need to let me know. Otherwise I will keep my promise and put a bullet in you." He watched the wolf for a few moments as he aimed his gun. He had no idea if Jarod was still present in the wolf or if he had been taken over by the beast. He wasn't going to give the wolf an opening, but he couldn't bring himself to kill Jarod just yet.

Jarod's eyes were fixed on Edward's gun. There was a chance he might survive. He nodded up and down and kicked the gun away farther.

Alright, now just to persuade him to put the gun away...

Jarod walked closer to Edward-perfect striking distance; but no, he wouldn't do that. His eyes filled with fear, were fixed on the gun. He placed his paw on Edward's gun and slowly lowered it. If he could prove that he wouldn't hurt him, perhaps he could receive mercy.

Edward watched as the wolf kicked the gun away farther. That didn't say much he was well aware that the wolf didn't need a gun to try and kill him. He watched the wolf for a few more moments and then suddenly the wolf walked closer. He perpared himself to shoot Jarod, but Jarod had a look of fear in his eyes. Not your typical werewolf fear either. Something in that look made him pause. Then Jarod placed a paw on his gun. Against his better judgement he didn't shoot. He stood there his gun lowered face to muzzle with a man he once knew that was now a wolf. Although, he is often thought to be incapable of mercy he showed some now. He didn't know why either. Maybe it was because it was Jarod. No, that couldn't be right. Jarod wasn't the first of his students to be bitten. But, all except for one he had killed. Was it because Jarod seemed to be in control of the wolf? Is that what stayed his hand? Only time would tell.

Jarod looked at Edward one last time before he looked away in fear. It might be his only chance to leave.

With one last look into his eyes, Jarod did what he did best- he ran. He didn't care where, just distance. Distance between him and Edward. Distance between him and the past. Jarod would have to return in the morning no doubt. He couldn't wander the forest naked.

The trees, the bushes, the occasional animal; they all teemed with life. What was he? A small insignificant speck in the washbowl of life.

He looked back one last time. They were gone. Jarod whimpered one last time. He couldn't live his life on the run forever, but he would try.

Edward looked to Jarod a moment longer before the wolf took off. He fired a shot into the forest knowing that he would miss the wolf by a mile. He cursed himself for trusting Jarod he should have known that a wolf can never be trusted. He then picked up Jarod's wallet and placed it in his pocket and walked back to Leigh and Larharl. He appeared out of the trees and looked to Leigh and Larharl. "That's another wolf wandering about." He said simply letting them know he had lost the wolf, but not letting them know the wolf's identity. He cursed himself once more for letting the wolf escape. Now, Jarod could be a danger as well as Hector.

Laharl was leaned up against a tree, arms crossed, with his head lowered. He didn't look up when Edward had said that he lost the wolf. Laharl didn't know Edward like Leigh did, but from the looks and smell of things, Edward was...disappointed. It wasn't the normal scent one would pick up either, it was different. Edward's scent had always made Laharl wonder. He would have asked but with Edward holding his gun, he decided it was not his place. And so with a sigh and a push off the tree he looked up. "So now there's three to look out for?"

Leigh was sitting on a fallen log near the tree reloading her gun. She had just put it back in the small of her back when Edward came up. She looked up to Edward and heard him say he had lost the wolf. That was something that never happened. She looked to Edward with concern and stood up. She tried to read his face, but as usual it was practicaly unreadable. Edward was so many things, but easy to read wasn't one of them. She could tell something was bothering him, but seeing the way he acted she decided not to push it. She took on her Hunter Searcher air. "It's alright we can get him later." She spoke with confidence knowing a werewolf would most likely come back for a kill. Especialy if the werewolf thought it would be easy. She looked to Edward again she knew he was angry and dissapointed, but she couldn't find a way to ask him what happened. She looked to the sky and saw the first light of dawn. Werewolves would soon return to their human forms and nightmares would cease to walk for a small while.

Edward looked to Larharl and then Leigh. "So, there's three." He stated simply. He then cast a look to Leigh. He knew she sensed the fact that he was angry, but he was thankful that she didn't press it. He then looked up at the sky. "So, another day comes." He said with the wearyness of a tired warrior or the ho humness of someone who had seen many sunrises. He knew that no matter how the sun rose it always set again and demons returned to their forms to hunt and kill. He felt the weight of Jarod's wallet in his pocket. It was a constant reminder that he had failed Jaron not once but twice. Once in letting him get bitten and then again by letting him escape. He looked away from the dawn and simply walked a few feet away and leaned against a tree as he put his gun away. He sighed.

Jarod retuned to his stump slowly taking his time to put his clothes on. He looked around, there was something missing!

"Dammit!"

It had occured to him that Edward probably took it, that or someone else. He tucked his pistol back into his shoulder holster. He had been shot at, true, but if he didn't face his fears now, they'd get him later.

A time later he came across the meeting place with his hands in the air.

"Edward, I was hoping we could settle this without shooting at each other for once!"

Jarod stepped closer to Edward, hoping not to get shot. He watched the woman out of the side of his vision, she seemed sly. If she tried something, there was no escape.

"Alright, don't shoot!"

Edward saw Jarod come through the trees with his arms held up. He pushed off the tree and then glanced at Leigh and Larharl and held up a hand letting them know he'd take care of this. He then crossed his arms and gave Jarod a hard look. He then heard Jarod's comment about shooting at each other and said in his characteristic harsh almost off handed tone. "Well, I wasn't the one who ran away." He then spoke half to himself knowing Jarod probably heard him, but as usual he seemed as if he didn't care if Jarod heard him. "Like that solved anything." He saw Jarod look to Leigh. Then he heard Jarod say not to shoot. "Alright, then give me a reason not to shoot you." He said simply knowing that he may have to shoot yet another one of his young pupils.

"I'm not exactly sure that I could prove that to you, Edward."

Jarod slowly removed his gun from it's holster and tossed it to the ground. He kept his hands up in the air.

"All I can do is promise that I won't shoot you. The question is, Edward, will you shoot me?"

His hand rested in the silver pocket knife in his jacket. The odds are that it wouldn't be enough if Edward decided to shoot him, but is was insurance.

"Look, I noticed that you've been watching two other wolves, you haven't succeeded in capturing them. You need all the help you can get."

Jarod slid the knife into his waistband and put both of his hands up.

"I can only assure that I will help you if you put the gun down. Deal?"

After he had goten lost, Tobias had hid himself in the hollow of a half dead tree, falling asleep with his scarf as a pillow. When the light of day finaly woke him, he crawled out and looked around...Looking at the ground, he saw large pawprints...he set his hand in one, showing it was well over twice the size of it...and he had fairly large hands...He stood back up, wraping the scarf around his neck to hide the scars again...he thought about what he should do next...go deeper into the forest...or find the people he had met earlier...maybe they could help him, or, atleast put him out of his misery...

Seeing that seemed his only chance at getting anywhere, he decided to try and find them again...retracing his own footprints in the soft forest floor where he could find them...He hoped he could get something to eat, if they didn't shoot him first...

Edward listend to Jarod as he said he wasn't sure how he could prove that to him. It was a familiar question. It seemed as if Jarod was one of the only students that wanted to prove themselves to him or cared what he thought. There was a time that Jarod was a very talented upcoming Hunter Searcher. Now, Jarod was what he had been taught to hunt. Edward couldn't help but blame himself a little. He watched as Jarod tossed his gun to the ground keeping his hands in the air. He then heard the same question that he had asked himself. Would he shoot Jarod? It sat beside a promise that Jarod wouldn't shoot him. He looked down at his gun. He didn't even realize that he had pulled it out and aimed by pure instinct. He paused for a moment. His green eyes seemed to look into Jarod's very inner beinging. He then spoke. As always everything he did was deliberate.

"I won't shoot you. For now." He said simply.

He watched as Jarod's hand rested on something in his pocket. He was observant as always aware of every movement that Jarod made. Then Jarod spoke again. He surprisingly enough listened.

"The two wolves I'm watching are a little harder to capture then you realize." He said in his own defense. Then he looked at Jarod. "Are you telling me that you actually want to work with me again?" It was a strange twist a werewolf asking to help kill other werewolves. The only one he knew of that would kill their own kind is Leigh and somehow Larharl had added another one. He couldn't quite figure out why Larharl was the way he was, but he somewhat trusted Larharl. He kept his eyes trained on Jarod. He saw the dawn's early light catch the knife as Jarod slid it into his waistband. He looked back into Jarod's eyes with all his trademark intenstity. It was clear that he didn't fear Jarod. He was just as always being careful. He never did anything that wasn't deliberate and the long pauses were deffinatly just that. A deliberate attempt to see if Jarod would suddenly feel threatened and try to attack. He heard Jarod say that he would help him if he put the gun down. Then Edward Mandauer did something unexpected. He put his gun into his holster which was as close as he ever got to putting his gun down. He stood there looking at the now human form of Jarod. He remembered teaching him all to well. Jarod had been a very good student. That very fact could make him a dangerous werewolf, but for now he seemed to want to help. He knew he couldn't turn down help in the search to destroy Hector. Then as his thoughts collided with eachother he heard a branch snap. He glanced that direction for a moment and saw Tobias coming through a clearing. He tossed a look to Jarod. "Now, it is only one wolf that I'm looking for." He said simply. He was alert waiting for Tobias to either attack or explain.

He stopped when he realised he'd been spotted. He put his hands up and walked out into the clearing. "I didn't know where else to go..." He said quietly, looking around. He noticed a new addition to their little group, but kept his eyes to the ground for the most part. The sunlight caught his right eye, reflecting that startling bright blue and making it seem like it was glowing...

Jarod looked back at Edward and slowly holstered his gun. He looked at the man who had just entered the little clearing. His hands were up and he sounded desperate.

"And you are...?"

Jarod's hand rested on the pocket knife in his waistband. There was something...different about the man. What it was, he didn't know. He glanced at Edward, his brown eyes shifting from the man and back to his former mentor. His weight on the balls of his feet, ready to strike if need be.

As he eyed the stranger his thought spiraled back to Edward's words.

"I won't shoot you. For now."

What was for now? Was that ever or was it just wasted words? Maybe Jarod wasn't meant to know...

Leigh didn't move to interupt Edward and the new man that stood before them. She instantly knew he wasn't a man but a wolf. She stood and watched him and Edward with her mirror blue eyes. She heard Edward tell Jarod, apparently that is his name, that he wouldn't shoot him for now. She knew that was as close to a promise of peace that Edward ever got. She studied her savior and friend. He was standing tall as always being 6'8 had always made him seem so much more of a warrior to her. Suddenly a memory came flashing back. A memory of blood, death and sorrow. She saw white fur and blood, her blood and the blood of her loved ones, and then a man, Edward. She shook her head slightly as a noise pulled her out of her nightmare thoughts. She pulled her gun from the small of her back and aimed. Suddenly Tobias appeared from the clearing with his hands up. She took a step forward clearly not trusting Tobias. "You didn't know where else to go?" She said repeating his question with a harsh tone. It was clear that she didn't trust him. "How about a good question? Why did you run?" She felt mixed feelings about this boy. She knew that he was as dangerous as any werewolf she ever killed, but something inside of her identified with the hurt that she saw in his eyes. She didn't put her gun away. She just simply waited for explination or attack. Her mirror blue eyes seemed to glitter in the sunlight. She saw his right eye appear to glow. It just reminded her of the beast within the boy. The beast that she had seen before. The one who sat in a cage of flesh and bone and howled in fury.

Edward sensed that Leigh was troubled she was harsher than normal with Tobias. He cast a look to Jarod who seemed alert and ready for anything. He realized that he had drawn his gun again and was pointing it at Tobias. As Tobias stated that he had nowhere else to go Edward shook his head a bit sort of the way a tired teacher would after one of his pupils had made him weary, but the truth was he was no teacher to Tobias. He could be an allie or enemy, but for now he was undecided. He cast a look back to Jarod and nodded. Just a small signal to let him know there was no need to attack right away. It was an eerily familiar gesture. It was a throw back to when he used to teach Jarod only a few years before. His own green eyes seemed to glow in the sunlight as if one could see the dragon within him waiting and watching with an ancient fierceness.

He didn't have a chance to answer Jarod before Leigh pulled her gun. He flinched, taking a half step back from her, but keeping his hands up. "I...I ran because I freaked out..." He said, truth in his tone. If he didn't know what to do in a situation, his most common choice was to find the quickest way out of it...and that was usually by running away...There was an obvious starved look to him, like he hadn't eaten a good meal in a very long time...Most wolves would kill the first thing they saw for food, but Tobias restrained himself, killing small animals and stealing...He was a sad case indeed.

Laharl didn't look up to Jarod's approach or to Tobias'. He just stood there with his head lowered, thinking. Then he lifted it with a slow and smooth motion. He looked around the clearing. He looked to Leigh then to Tobias, then he looked to Edward and finally to Jarod. He didn't seem to mind Jarod's return, but Tobias was a different story. He watched him out of the corner of his eye and listened. What he said was truthful, but that didn't make him stop his suspicion. Tobias could not completely control himself, Laharl could smell it on his scent. Then with a gentle nudge, Laharl eased himself off the tree with his arms still folded. He gave Tobias a look over again. The kid was truly scared of the gun, but was his wolf just as afraid? Laharl looked back to Leigh and motioned her to lower her gun, then he looked back at Tobias. He could see the resistance in his eyes and the hunger that he craved. Then in a calm voice he spoke. "Are you hungry?"

Leigh hesitated for a moment longer before finally lowering her gun and placing it back in the small of her back. She knew Edward would be another story. For now she trusted Larharl and thought that he might know what he was doing. The sun gleamed off her leather jacket. The blood on her back was sticky as it had dried somewhat. Why the wound seemed fresh and new she couldn't understand. She just knew that Hector was close. She could feel him hiding in the forest watching and waiting. Waiting for her to make a mistake.

Jarod noticed Edward's head gesture and slowly tucked the closed knife into the sleeve in his jacket. Concealed enough not to raise suspision, easy enough to reach for any danger.

His right hand was in his jacket, there was something different about the man. Tobias they called him, they name didn't sound familiar.

There was anger burning within Jarod. "Are you hungry?". The question seemed so simple. He did look hungry though, like he hadn't eaten in days.

Edward's eyes were intense, burning with a fierceness that he hadn't seen before. His mentor was different, not a kind gentle man; not that he was ever, anyway; his eyes burned with anger.

Jarod turned back to Tobias, his arm at the ready.

"Well, are you hungry?"

He looked from one to the other as he listened to them talk. Letting his hands fall limply at his sides. His blind left eye hidden from view by his messy black hair...

He finaly responded in that low raspy voice. "I haven't eaten in a while..." He said quietly. One hand reaching up to adjust his scarf do it covered his neck better. It wasn't hard to tell that it took everything he had to stay in control...the scent of blood on Leigh wasn't helping things at all...
