"The Darkest Side" Poetry Book

Post by Howling Fan »

Hey folks,

Sorry this isn't WW related, but my first poetry book, “The Darkest Side: A Collection of Twisted Nursery Rhymes,” was just released this week. If you like dark poetry that blends Dr. Seuss with Edgar Allen Poe and marries Emily Dickinson with Shel Silverstein, then this tome is for you! The “suggested retail price” is $14.95, but I'm selling it to Pack members for 9 bucks. I accept Paypal and checks. E-mail or message me if you're interested, and get your hands on 116 pages of poetry goodness! Here are a few samples:

Midnight Madness

Insomnia befriends those
who gave it their all
Working night and day
and yet still fall

They would die for their country
but are charged with treason
Life's not perfect nor fair
but everything happens for a reason

The opera man rehearsed
but forgot when to sing
He may have a heavenly voice
but timing is everything

Circling in a canoe
but ceaselessly rowing
It's not the loneliness I fear
It's the not knowing.

The Suicide of Dorothy Hale (by Frida Kahlo)

Floating through the swirling sky
I, Miss Dorothy Hale
have decided to take my little life
from daring dreams gone stale

Friends told me, “Don't you do it, dear”
But hell, what do they know?
The inscription explains my anguish clear
written in blood below

Upon the balcony's edge I stood
ready to do the deed
They say a flower's only as good
as it was in seed

But now I do not feel so low
walking in my world of snow.

Drop the Bomb

We have reached the end, my friend
We have reached the end
No more prayers to send
No more blood to spill
No more hearts to mend
No more people to kill
No more tears to cry
No more laughs to share
Clean out your bank
Clear out your lair
I heard it on the news
It'll all be over soon
Here's info you can use:
We'll be dead by noon
I guess that's the way it goes
It's really quite a shame
See the soldiers slain in rows
We killed in God's name
Ashes to ashes, dust to dust
In the end, we were all the same.

Clarification

Post by Howling Fan »

I just wanted to clarify a few things: This book is filled with fairly mature themes (suicide, war, death, depression, sex, etc.) and occasional strong language, so you should probably be at least 15 if you want to order a copy. Also, the $9 charge for this book doesn't include shipping-and-handling costs. Add about $3 or $4, depending on where you are, for S&H. Of course, if you live outside the U.S., it will be more.
And to Silverclaw, check your e-mail for the answers to your questions. Thanks for watching.

Post by Howling Fan »

This is just a quick note to let you know the second edition of my poetry book came out last week, complete with four new poems and a cleanup of those pesky grammar/spelling errors. See the first post for samples. Message me if you're interested. Thanx.
