Do you know of any good websites about special effects?

Post by Dreamer »

Specifically, I am looking for two different types of websites on Special effects:
1. one with instructions on how to do special effects yourself (both makeup effects and creating creatures)
2. one that gives news and information on special effects being used in recent or upcoming films

Can you help me find some websites that fit my description?

Do you count CGI effects in what you're looking for? Because those Ryan vs. Dorkman guys have a website detailing how to work on what they did. I'll get you the website if you want.

No, nto CGI. One of the reasons I want to learn is so that I can do effects like that (Albeit on a smaller scale). ANd I don't know crap about 3d-design.

That's certainly a noble cause if I ever heard one. CGI is improving to the point where it's becoming near indistinguishable, but it's still at the point where it's just near-indistinguishable, and if it can be avoided, it should, but usually is not. This is a problem.

I'll keep you posted if I see anything.
