Nonsense, English is a language. If humans could come up with it, humans can learn it. They're human, they can do it. It's not like we're asking them to program a space shuttle in two weeks.chubhound wrote:Well, is the problem that some Mexican immigrants CAN'T learn English? Or is it really that they WON'T learn English?
I was watching a news report where the reporter asked a group of field workers why they didn't just learn English so they could assimilate. They replied that they didn't want to stay here and become Americans, they just wanted to work, get a pile of money stacked up and go home to their families. That says something, which I thought was a good sign. It says they love their country, they just come here for the money. What is encouraging is that if they're given incentive to stay there, and have employment that allows them to support their families without coming here, then Mexico can be brought into the 21st century and become a thriving country. They have volcanic soil there, God knows how fertile that is. They could have kick-a**, rich farms there if only they didn't have red alert air quality, sewers and cesspools that back up regularly and open garbage dumps on every corner.
But, it's not up to us to fix their country. They have to do that. If we take away the tit, they have to stay there and improve their own lives.
