Ever Wanted to Publish Your Own Book?

Post by MoonKit »

Now, I know there is a lot of writers on here and I also know that it's hard to actually get published. So here's a link for a self publishing place:

http://www.lulu.com/

It doesnt cost anything upfront. They just offer your book online to people and if someone wants to buy it, the site gets 20% of the profit and the cost of materials and you get the rest. You do get to set the price and pick the layout and all that. Its not a bad idea. I think I may do it someday. Though its certainly not going to make you the money that a big company would. But it will get your stuff out there.

And hell, you can be pretty sure that a few pack members would buy your stuff. You should at least go check out the site. There are some werewolf books up for sale. 8)

I'll second any recommendation to lulu.com - a good friend of mine, Scott Degraffenreid (social network analyst), introduced me to them last year. However, I still have a LOT of writing to go before I actually use their services.

Hmm indeed. Certainly a consideration, though I'm not sure I'll put my main novel up there just yet. Still, I've got a lot of other rough manuscripts that, with some editing, could go out there. Some revisions and expansions off of, say, my "Lunar Calling" short story series... Let me get back to you on this one in a few months.
Taking a Gestalt approach, since it's the "in" thing...

Good to know; might have to check out the site.
I met an author who self-published his first book and he talked about his experiences and marketing the book and all that.

Same here. I've got it bookmarked, but I seriously doubt I'll be advertising any time soon. I haven't even begun to get into character development. :p

Ouch, Terastas. Well, if anything happens, all I can say is that the Army is keeping me busy. :)
