What is Anonymous? Is it a person, or another one of those groups who do nothing but harass people?
Edit: Did some internet looking around, found out what Anonymous was. I don't really approve of what they are doing. (I've had to deal with their attacks on "Habbo Hotel" in the past). But, I don't know enough about the Church of Scientology to comment on this recent "war".

Ehh it's acase of divide and conquer what I'm seeing here. both organisations are selfrightous bigots and both can put up a fight, personally I'd like to see anon take on something with teeth... either it wins and scientology is no more (fat chance of that happening)
Or scientology wins and anon gets outlawed/denouced in general society.

I'm one of anonymous sometimes...that is to say, I've spent a great deal of time on 4chan. Though I suppose I'm not one of the "hardcore" ones.
The worst thing I ever participated in was a hilarious raid on Habbo Hotel. Good times.
But, sometimes anonymous goes too far. I've heard of them hacking people's myspaces and posting pornographic images. I think they've even sent viruses to people and ruined their computers. Anonymous can definitely be a force to be reckoned with. I really wish they'd stick to things that are hilarious, but not actually damaging to anyone's reputation or property.
Having said all that...I don't know who to "support" in this Anonymous vs. Scientology thing. On the one hand, I think people are entitled to have whatever ridiculous beliefs they want to have, but on the other hand, Scientology is a very small group that has proven itself to be pretty dangerous. Then again, if you look at the overall scoreboard, I guess Christians have harmed the most lives.

I respect Scientology's beliefs and all that. You've got to be tolerant, even if they believe in sucking alien ghosts out of their bodies to unlock superpowers (I'm not kidding.). But the actual organization of the Church is guilty of their own crimes (such as fraud, extortion, illegal drug prescription, burglary, and yes, murder), and I think the Church of Scientology itself needs serious reformation, not their religion. They need to focus on their religion, not making money. Anonymous has the right idea, but they're taking the wrong approach.
Then again, Christianity and Islam's death count probably outnumber Scientology's in sheer statistics (millions to one, perhaps?). I guess I personally don't like Scientology because they're the only religion out there that CONTINUES TO DENY ITS CRIMES. It pisses me off.

true, but in this war, both sides are playing dirtyRedEye wrote:This thread will be locked if people start religion bashing, so take it re-e-eal easy here.
Anonymous's actions amount to Cyber-terrorism, no matter how you look at it. It is NOT something to be proud of.
Keep it cool. We'll be watching.

Anonymous doesn't war on Scientology due to their beliefs. Anonymous doesn't much care for that. It's the Church of Scientology's underhanded and oppressive practices Anon is attacking because of.
Not that it matters. Anonymous is largely powerless, only a handful knowing anything of use. The best use of the legion's resources would be to follow "Wise Beard Man" (Matt Bunker - a critic of scientology. Look up "Xenu TV" on Youtube) and use the legal routes to destroy the church at it's core (Which will cause Anon's true goal - explusion of them from the Internet - to be realized).
DoSing their sites does little. Further, it is unsophisticated and weak. No style. And the Church has good lawyers and the money to throw out lawsuits left and right.

I really dont see what the big deal is about scientology. Sure, the guys are a bunch of nutcases but to Islamic groups, Christians are a bunch of nutters too and vice versa. People believe stupid stuff but you cant argue with them because they believe it. They're just another religion. Back when everybody was Celtic, they felt this way about Christianity and yet Christianity has millions of followers now.

Religion is hell for humanity. It creates wars, hate, mind-control, brain-washing, and hoodwinked.
Scientology is like any religion in this world, yet it believes a author who have created a false universe and they cherish it. The only true purpose of Scientology is that they are 'Evil' and they try to brainwash you into a fanatic cult member.
