Earlier today, I took a piece of deer sausage and sliced it up into REALLY thin slices. Then, I browned the sausage a little in a skillet with olive oil and some Tony's Chacheres (sp?). Then I tossed in some veggies and stirred all of it while the veggies cooked. The sausage and Tony's made the veggies taste really good.
It was OM NOM NOM NOM.

I'm discovering that I do not like lettuce and mayo, even when it's laced with chipotle.
I got the Quizno's Tuscan Turkey sandwich because I wanted to get some more veggies into my diet, and was brave enough to try lettuce for the sake of the turkey and grilled onions and parmesan bread.
Stomach just went "NO!!" when it hit the tongue, but I horked it down anyway. And the stomach crawled. I think lettuce for me will be an acquired taste at best and mayo's bad for you anyway. So I'm better off without that.
I'd order it without lettuce and chipotle mayo, but that's half the sandwich and I can probably replicate what I do like about it at home, for about the same money.
So, I'm trying to dilute the lettuce with herbed chicken soup and lemon tea.

Vrikasatma, what you got was probably Iceberg lettuce. Think wet soggy paper if it's fresh...
Try things like butter lettuce, or better yet; endive! Get the sammich without the foliage and put your own on at home. The Tuscan Turkey is killer with fresh field greens or radiccio/butter lettuce mixed.
Iceburg is one of those negative calorie foods, anyhow. It takes more calories to chew it than there is in it.

I kept it simple tonight. Scampi and a baked potato with mozzarella.
No, unfortunately, not mozzarella di bufala, it's out of season and can't afford it anyway
One thing I'd like to bring up...
The way food prices are going, you can almost eat out for about the same price as eating in. Last week, while I was down at my mom's house, I got ingredients for shrimp fried rice. It came up to $20!!
Three people could get stuffed at a Mongolian BBQ for that much, and it only fed the two of us with Mom providing the rice, eggs and peas.
It wasn't like I was buying tiger prawns and edamame, either. Just peeled white shrimp, green onions, sesame seeds, cashews and baby carrots. Yeah, I know...peeled shrimp. That's where I took it in the neck...that and the cashews...
