what got you interested in wolves?
Re: what got you interested in wolves?
Takyoji's the poster of the eighth comment in this thread. I'd guess that Moonwatcher's agreeing with him.
I can't pinpoint my interest in wolves to any one event or source... it's something that's been developing for, oh, well over 20 years now. Although even so it's been trailing behind my interest in werewolves. But the most memorable of these various reasons was a documentary I watched... some time in the late 1980s or early 1990s... about wolves, how their society worked and (most interestingly to me) how they communicated, not just with sounds but how they held their faces.

Re: what got you interested in wolves?
Not so much wolves, more werewolves. One of the earliest memories I have is of two recurring nightmares I used to have aged around 5 or 6 years old. One where a man would stand in a hedged garden in a grey suit with a chained up werewolf snarling and snarling at him while he presented what seemed like a news/documentary feature. The other was of a werewolf on a surgical trolley, dead or under sedation (not sure which) that had been shaved everywhere but its head.
I was then, for years, terrified yet fascinated by them even though, to my knowledge, I had never been exposed to them in any way and so just seemed to know what they were. Ever since, I have read and watched as much as i can about them.
My wife thinks i'm a little odd but humours me and even comes along to the cinema when a new movie comes out.

Well be, thy one. And wisdom too. And grew, and joyed in my growth. From a word to a word, I was led to a word. From a deed...to another deed.

Re: what got you interested in wolves?
The only reason i luv wolves is because they represent to me a secret freedom i've always wanted and they look freakin' awesome at night plus that is my clan i come from.
I am the guardian of the light and darkness,
I am the one who whispers in the dark,
I am the eyes of your soul,
I am the shield,
I am the sword.

Re: what got you interested in wolves?
I have always been interested in wolves and such canine-related animals. In my entire life, I have owned many of the wolf's closest dog relatives, huskies. Right now I own three, two red and one silver. Overall, I'd say my youngest husky, Sascha, is the most wolf-like. Anyways, ever since learning about the drastic decline in the wolf population, my likingof wolves has increased even more. I modelled my online character from wolves, I draw many different wolves, and I have quite a collection of wolf figurines, paintings, and stuffed animals((they are all in my closet)).
I'm the fear that keeps you awake
I'm the shadows on the wall
I'm the monsters they become
I'm the nightmare in your skull
I'm a dagger in your back
An extra turn upon the rack
I'm the quivering of your heart
A stabbing pain, a sudden start.

I'll probably be the most boring person about this, but why not post anyway.
Really, i just sort of over time developed a big respect and love for wolves. I'll second what Black Claw said about a "secret freedom". I envy that, and wouldn't mind that life for myself.

Re: what got you interested in wolves?
My childhood fear of them would be the most likely culprit.
The wolf is neither man's competitor nor his enemy.
He is a fellow creature with whom the earth must be shared...
If the wolf is to survive, the wolf haters must be outnumbered.
They must be outshouted, out financed, and out voted.
Their narrow and biased attitude must be outweighed by an attitude based on an understanding of natural processes.

Re: what got you interested in wolves?
Werewolves had something to do with it. When I was a little kid, I was really into foxes (and a bunch of other animals,) and when I was in 3rd grade, I vaguely remember creating my own anthropomorphic animal characters with some friends after watching The Fox and the Hound (I find it interesting that we did this before seeing Robin Hood. Also, playing "Werewolf: The Last Warrior" on NES probably had something to do with it subliminally.) And then yadda yadda yadda I found myself playing Whitewolf in High School. Because of Whitewolf I got into nature stuff, and suddenly had this weird revelation that was like, "I love werewolves, but they don't exist... awww... but wait, wolves are real enough! Cool!" or something like that. Been into wolves ever since.

Re: what got you interested in wolves?
I don't really remember.I just remember thinking wolves were really cool when I was like seven or eight. At some point in my childhood,I had a dream that I was a wolf.I don't really remember it that well. All I remember was that I was living with a small pack, and we were probably somewhere up in Canada.I don't exactly remember when werewolves caught my interest though.
