Heart
I'm sorry if someone else has made a topic like this, but I did a quick search and didn't find anything.
I've heard that in classic werewolf lore, that werewolves attacked humans and only ate the human's heart. I want to know why this would happen, why would a werewolf only take a humans heart? (I know that you won't have a definite answer, but I want to hear your thoughts on this).

Take my advice-- I don't use it anyway

Re: Heart
I'm thinking, and I just remembered zombies. Why only brains?
I guess it's more satisfying for the werewolf to go after the heart. That means that their victim is conquered and is truly dead.

Re: Heart
It also means they're dead-for-certain if you eat the heart, and aren't going to be wolfing out and coming after you.
If the Werewolf ate the brains, they could still become Werewolves and work for Ewe Boll in one of his movies.

Re: Heart
That actually came from Return of the Living Dead, and it was explained in the book/movie that zombies are in constant pain from the disease/being dead and that a substance in brains helps ease the pain.Moss27 wrote:I'm thinking, and I just remembered zombies. Why only brains?

Re: Heart
I have some books that I read... well, one I think. But it had the werewolf only take the heart and it never explained why werewolves would take the heart. But I guess there really isn't an exact reason.

Re: Heart
While I strongly doubt you are going to find a real connection with werewolves eating hearts in mythology, other than An American Werewolf in Paris, the eating of the heart whether animal or man, (in certain tribes) was seen as devouring their soul. You eat the heart, you gain their power and strength. After all, the heart, after the brain, is the most important organ in the body, for it pumps the essence of life through the body, namely blood.

Re: Heart
dont eat heatrs thats just a myth...although we love the warmest and bloodiest parts of the body ...so that could explain the reasoning behind that particular myth.....any more questions?

It is true that the alpha wolf will be given preferential rights to the heart of the prey meat. Heart is apparently a delicacy among wolves. So, it might not be a completely contrived, spur-of-the-moment concoction of some Hollywood writer.

Actually, for most carnivore predators, it's the Liver, not the Heart, that is the big nom-nom. The Liver has more nutrients in it than any other organ in the body; plus, it's a lot easier to get to.
